Love the video, I’m gonna have to add all of these artists to my playlist! I also recommend Orville Peck to a lot of people! His voice is so reminiscent of that old school western style, and he has some truly insane vocals in some of his songs. He has some good variety, a lot of stuff that feels traditionally western, some that sound like old sad country love songs, and some that mix elements of rock and western music. A few songs to start with are Kalahari Down, Nothing Fades like the Light, Roses are Falling, and No Glory in the West.

Spectacular video! I especially like listening to Colter Wall, Charley Crockett, and Sierra Ferrell's solo stuff. Tyler Childers' Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven album last year was great. Like lots of folks I discovered a lot of these musicians through GemsonVHS and Western AF, good channels for old timey folk and cowboy, americana style music. I would recommend Nick Shoulders as a new folk/country musician worth listening to. And I have a soft spot for Willie Watson too, who seems to be carrying the torch of the old school music from his Old Crow Medicine Show days while OCMS has shifted to more modern country .

My musical journey learning guitar started at about age 14 (18 years ago already 😂)with classic country, specifically Dwight Yoakam. These new artists are such a refreshing change from the typical “hick hop” I’ve dealt with since about 2005 when the last of the greats faded out in the 90’s. I hope all of these artists keep hammering out these great songs and get this genre back on track.
