Notice how Johnny immediately knew Alan had a little bit set up and he went right into straight man character. What a pro.

Johnny bombs, then turns the bomb into a burst of uproarious laughter. That’s a comedy genius at work.

I’m only 36…but growing up seeing Leno, Fallon, Kimmel etc..after seeing clips of him, add all of today’s late night hosts up and that’s just a microscopic fraction of talent that will never be Carson. Like Jerry Seinfeld said, “when Carson left, the tonight show left with him”

All theses years later, Johnny Carson got me here coughing up blood laughing my ass off. What a great guy. What a great edit and upload and what a great KZitem channel. Well done sir, well done!

That's AWESOME how much laughter and joy that Johnny is bringing you, me and AT LEAST, a few hundred more, but, coughing up blood, well, that took a REAL sudden turn from THOROUGHLY enjoying CLASSIC comedy and ENTERTAINMENT to, NIGHTMARE THEATER, remember that, on CBS, local, Seattle, before said, NMT???!!!!!

Well I'm too young to have seen this when it aired, hell I was not even born when he quit the show, so for me there is no nostalgia and I'm very much enjoying this. Todays shows seems so plastic and Johnny Carson seems more genuine.
@Kevin-tz2lv

@@danskviiking that's cool that you're enjoying these...and yeah obviously what I said isnt true for all....just always seems to be a level of being negative about anything current and a love for anything older. Partly because they only show "best of" these older shows. They cut out the boring and unfunny stuff so it looks better. In 30 years people will think Fallon was 10 times better than whoever is on air then. Happens with everything.

@@Kevin-tz2lv Lather, rinse, repeat when it comes to *everything*. That’s how we get people sincerely thinking whole time periods from the past were better in every way. Nah, I’ll take my medical care from 2021 and people looking at their phones today over 1950s style racism and Doctors smoking while they check my baby’s lungs in the examination room.
@Kevin-tz2lv

@@cjaquilino true. And it helps when KZitem, for example, shows only "the best" of something. So basically 1% and dumping away the other 99% you'd have to sit through if it was a live show. You scrape away 99% of my life and that 1% will make it seem like I had a very exciting life lol

1:34-2:06 Ed asks a legitimate question. Johnny turns into Don Rickles for some reason. Ed’s able to zing the boss. Johnny finally gives an answer to the legitimate question before the video cuts. I don’t know why, but that didn’t feel like playful banter.
