I'm glad to see this solo back on youtube, I was quite saddened when it got private because it's the only video that follows the piece to a T. On tempo the whole time, no sections omitted, following dynamics, played very tightly, just all around an amazing performance. I learned this piece my senior year of high school for the regional solo contest and got a perfect score which I really shouldn't have because I fumbled a couple times and due to never really having the basics drilled into me, my technique and tightness was sorely lacking. I am now actually being taught the basics in college and will once again perform this piece when I have the basics mastered. Thank you for holding my good memories by keeping this video up.

I love that you actually use dynamics. plus the sound quality of the head is unbeatable by far the best quality of this solo i've found on youtube

Oh wow great job! I played this great solo in 1975 and surprised all who were all playing the Nard book solos back then. I played it on the loudest drum ever. 15 in. TDR. ENJOYED THAT PERFOMANCE! bc

That was fantastic. I saw some trouble with the same spots that always plagued me, but you handled it WAAYY better than I did! It's hard to recover from the ff dbl-strk roll that lasts 4 measures and go right into 8 or 9 16ths per hand, but man, you just blasted right through it. VERY impressive!

Great Job playing this piece!! Technique is really good, too. Your tempo has a tendancy to fluctuate, but it's nothing that a little practice with a metronome can't fix. Best of luck to you!!

Performance tempo? No...however, I would probably put this up there as the best performance on KZitem. Plus, I like it a LOT better on the rope drum. Sounds more historically authentic.

Markovitch wrote this i think in 69,so rope drums weren't the rage. The rebound on that drum took away from his performance especially at letter J and the single 16ths as he was forcing the rebounds making his technique seem awkward. Probably should have stuck to Connecticut Halftime or 3 Camps.

Hello Dominick, As I am watching your video, I am noticing some technique flaws with your right hand. I am noticing that you are bending your wrist and not getting the proper arm rotation. Just something to improve on. The only other thing I noticed is a lot of upper body movement, but good job.
