How did u convert it? Can the ballast stay the same?

Yes. The ballast can stay the same. All you have to do is cut all 3 wires going to the ignitor and wire nut them all individually. And then it is converted. And if you want to change it back. Just hook the cut wires back up to thier corresponding wires on the ignitor

No. Mercury vapor does not need an ignitor. It will damage the starting probe in the lamp. And yes. It does run very reliably and it is not underdriven any. A 70w MH ballast is the closest to a real 100w mercury vapor ballast
