Today I rebuild an Upside Down Forks from a 2005 Yamaha R6, I change the oil, replace the seals and dust caps.
After that I will adapt the entire 2005 Yamaha R6 front end on my Yamaha Virago Café Racer Build, it will give my bike a meaty look in the front compared to the flimsy stock front end I have now.
So far I have been working exclusively on the back of the bike, so it was time for me to tackle the front. I ordered those parts from different eBay sellers a year ago and never opened the boxes so I was wondering if the parts were any good. Well, I found a bent steering stop on the lower triple clamp but everything else was nice and straight, so I went ahead and rebuilt the forks with fresh new oil, seals and dust caps.
For this I used 2 tools that you may not have: a spring compressor and a seal driver.
I put links below if you want to check those tools out.
