I caught the last few mins of it, but I guess you already know that. Great video Dustin, way too short, both of you guys rushed this one, I can tell. To feel like we are all in attendance is the best feeling (just remember that next time). A bloopers reel could be a great addition. Laughter is such great medicine. Something about your smile keeps us coming back for more! Great Job!

I wish you would also make a clay/terracotta stove, ideally one which could also be used to heat the shelter you made. The easiest way would be to just make a thick-walled clay pipe and bury it in the floor of the shelter, or (like Primitive Technology) use large flat rocks to cover a channel in the ground, through which the smoke would go from one side of the shelter to the other, before being released into the air. If you have the fireplace make a fire cyclone/vortex inside, it will also be more fuel efficient, by burning all the fuel in the smoke, leaving you with colorless smoke. Black smoke = unburnt fuel, white smoke = not enough fuel (or too much water). Also, nice spoon-fork / spork (or how it's called). Would be interesting to see you make one out of wood.

Have you ever cooked trout or any other fish in clay and hay? Mix the clay and hay or straw or grass clippings together. Then make a plate shaped like your fish and lay the cleaned fish on the plate, then stuff the fish with herbs, spices, bread crumbs or croutons, and a bit of butter, then cover over the closed fish with the rest of your clay mix. Place on hot coals and cover in hot coals. cook until the clay is hard and thumps like thresh baked bread from the dutch oven, when tapped with a stick. Use a knife to pry open the two layers of clay apart with a sharp knife and enjoy. One blue gill or trout sized fish per person. You can bake some taters and corn on the cob placed on hot rocks from the fire. Potatoes will take the longest to cook. you could also grill the corn slathered with some bacon fat.

Great video and cook. I feel sorry for fellers on the Atlantic having to eat atlantic salmon. Wish you could give a try of our Kings, Sockeye or Coho in the Pacific. I have eaten Atlantic salmon and put them down in the ranks of our Pink Salmon for quality. You should try cedar plank salmon sometime. Its a traditional cooking style of the Pacific Northwest and is one of my favorite styles over open flame.

I always learn a lot from your camp cooking episodes! Removing the back and ribs from the salmon was amazing. I would squeeze a little fresh lemon into the chive butter at the end...or just squeeze it over the salmon and then drizzle on the butter. I love pork belly. Great with some of the left over crisp crust bread. Did you keep the air tunnel to the stone-lined fire pit? I think the long fire and the stone surround are the highlight of the Viking shelter.

The fish-cooking technique was good but would it have been better to wrap braided thick vines around the outside of the skewers (paddle shaped) and attach them to the skewers so there was no blocking of the fish to the fire? Pork belly is where American (streaky) bacon comes from, whereas English bacon is from the back. You're such a great cook.

Dustin, here's a pizza recipe for you. It's super-duper: MALAYSIAN CHICKEN PIZZA Source: Cooking Light 3/4 cup rice vinegar 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce 3 tablespoons water 1 tablespoon minced peeled fresh ginger 2 tablespoons chunky peanut butter 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper 4 garlic cloves, minced cooking spray 1/2 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces (about one breast) 1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded reduced-fat, reduced-sodium Swiss cheese 1/4 cup (1 ounce) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese 1 12-inch pizza crust (I used my basic recipe and froze half of the dough.)1/4 cup chopped green onions Preheat oven to 500°. Combine first 8 ingredients (through garlic) in a bowl; stir well with a whisk. Heat a nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Add chicken, and sauté 2 minutes. Remove chicken from pan. Pour rice vinegar mixture into pan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook mixture 6 minutes or until slightly thickened. (mine took longer than this. It should be boiling the whole time, so stick around and stir.) Return chicken to pan; cook 1 minute or until chicken is done. (Mixture will be consistency of thick syrup.) Sprinkle cheeses over prepared crust**, leaving a 1/2-inch border, and top with chicken mixture. Bake at 500° for 9-12 minutes on bottom rack in oven. Sprinkle with green onions. Place pizza on a cutting board; let stand 5 minutes. Save We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to
