my suggestion is to go straight to the oil finish on that beautiful violin.

Greetings from Guam Miss Cheryl! How did your retreat go? I hope things get better for that old violin. Chello is coming along. Such a marvelous instrument. My personal favorite. Kentucky seems very peaceful.

Greetings Irene! God gave us a blessed time at the retreat! We felt His hand at work and I praise Him. Thanks for asking. Kentucky is like heaven compared to where we came from. Hope you have a wonderful blessed week ahead!

I had to look up the Hebrew minute. I believe it is from Psalm 56:2. Not a verse I remember and the translation was different! Did you ever look up Prov. 22:6? Interesting line shaft. Tim, I will post a question to you on your comment. Interesting video! Hope the mystery violin comes out singing! Hope you get some volunteers to help you carve that cello!

The 'Hebrew Minute' is Psalm 67:2, I believe. I just know you will find the tone hidden in the mystery violin. The cello is going to take some serious carving! Not for the faint of heart! My vote is ALWAYS use asphaltum, ALWAYS :0) Stupidicus.

What is asphaltum? Tim, I was wondering what you were running on your line shaft. I was hoping for a bit of commentary on your video. Thanks.

@@fayjacobsohn7506 Tim was having a really hard time videoing because it is on his phone and the phone only records a minute at a time, so he gave up on talking and sent me the videos so we could hear the awesome crunch sounds of the line shaft. Actually the line shaft is basically quiet and the machine cutting the metal is what we heard. I hope that helps a little. I probably should have said something but I didn't want to interrupt the crunch crunch sound! He will explain the rest. I just wanted to let you know the back story. Thanks for asking!

@@fayjacobsohn7506 Hi Fay! Asphaltum is just the old-time (Latin???) word for Asphalt. I think asphalt occurs underground and is petroleum based - I'm doing a lot of stuttering and guessing here :0) It is dissolved in Oil of Spike Lavender and rubbed into wood. It blackens the grain and any nicks or scratches. Sort of like giving new wood an antique look. On the lineshaft I am running a hacksaw to cut a 2" diameter piece of steel (that is what is causing all the noise in the video). I am also running a small metal lathe on it. Eventually I will add a small drill press and a wet-grinder. I like your art work! Take care, Tim.

Hi Cheryl. It's good to see the Mystery Violin make steady progress from Biohazard to Musical Instrument! It's "The Soldiers of the Queen" again this week. If you have two or three minutes to spare, you might like to chack out the following link; kzitem.info/news/bejne/uWyirnWBf4ydaKA Every blessing to you.

How did you learn to read Hebrew ?

Thanks for the question. I had been studying it on and off for years and then I finally enrolled in the Israel Hebrew Institute and took all their Biblical Hebrew courses learning under the Israeli teachers who were able to give very interesting insight into the meaning and richness of the language!
