It is important for dancers to warm up before dancing in order to prepare the body for longer and full range of movements. They help to decrease tension in the muscles and joints. Through this preparation you can ensure you are able to move without stress and strain. Body conditioning for Bharatanatyam (exercises) is essential for being physically fit, so that the body temperature increases gradually to an optimal working level and helps to avoid injuries.
Here I am sharing some exercises which I was taught during my dance education and have helped me immensely with my practice. I hope they are useful to you and help you with your dance. I will be sharing Bharatanatyam lessons in my future videos.
