I have a 9.5 ti, but the hile to mount the cable to is stipped. This video is a help. Now i know i can tear it down and re-tap the hole for the new bolt. I guess, i will completely grease it while it is a part too. Thanks for the good video.

I picked up a Warn 9.5ti for 50 bucks. It runs, but had been beaten to hell by the previous owner. The two rear bolt holes are broken off, so i'll need to order new drum supports. In the process i figured i'd rebuild it completely with all new gaskets and clean it up the best i can inside. This video immensely helped me understand how the winch will work, and the winches are probably similar on the inside so it'll help me with reassembly. Thanks!

I just rebuilt my 37 year old Ramsey winch. Motor wasn't turning over after sitting up the last 30 years. Cleaned and greased the gears. Cleaned and ohmed the motor and it appears to be good. I found out last night that the wire posts are shorted to the housing. I'll have to take it back apart and see if the insulated sleeves are shot. I also want to check to see if the plastic washer between the sections are in their groove. Thanks.

Warn currently uses Phillips Moly Lowtemp #1 for grease. Previously they used Aeroshell #17. Both contain at least five percent moly.

Excellent! I just tore into my 9,500 Magnum/Warn (A Warn sold under the Magnum brand with minor cosmetic differences). What a nightmare. I don't suppose it helped any to neglect it for 5 or more years. It was packed with mud & rust. Probably junk now. The planetary gears all still move but everything is ugly with rust. The solenoids just click when engaged; one or more of them is likely bad too. The motor literally had dried mud in the bottom.

Thank you for the maintenance clips for the winch. I want to ask you. I have an American Warn winch. It seems that there is a problem, and it is during the towing. It works. When the towing stops, it loosens and returns the trailer and does not continue to the state of tension. One of the technicians told me that the winch clutch must be changed, so is what he said correct. Thank you

You can install a simple sheet of alu or plastic under your winch in order to keep the worst dirt, water, rocks etc. off your winch and rope

Cool video!I just picked up a low mileage hs9500i and plan on a full rebuild when i get the rest of my suspension mods and a few other things done.It was on a street truck here in ohio.I know it has not been abused just looks ratty from ohio winters and since it's such a nice winch i want it to look new again even if my samurai looks thrashed.

That's the brake assembly, so, not lubed. ;) There are some older comments that talk about that.

Hi everyone, I want to ask a little question! Why is my winch brand CE XD9000 damaged unknowingly, check the voltage, there is no problem! Check the tightening handle on the right side and find it is loose. what is the reason? Is this caused by human factors? Because my car has been repaired before, if it is caused by the repairer, he will be affected by causality. Thank you everyone, and welcome to provide comments

Is there a way to make the Lever move easier between the Engaged and Free spool position? Mine has been super tight from new and at times requires 2-3 goes and to winch in/out to get it to move it's that tight? Yours looks to move way easier... I just thought they came that way.

@milkcrate82

+Carol Cabrita Cabrita Our drum was in good shape and we were told by Warn that we would not need to replace it. If there was a lot of scarring and cuts created by the braided steel cable, we would have had to replace it.
