If I remember correctly. This was sometime circa 2005 at the end of the season. Celebrating the V10 and Renaults victory. Its sad in a way because its kind of the V10s swan song. A final farewell before making way for the V8s. And whats a better way than to go out singing we are the champions?
@nitrous36

The V10 era was the peak of NA engines in F1. Revving as high as 19,000 rpm some years and making as much as 950 hp. HP numbers that werent seen since the 80s turbo era. They were truely screamers.

yea but todays engines have around 1000 hp

These engines were alive! That is what seems to be missing in the new V6 Turbo Hybrid era. The technology is amazing, but it doesn't yet sound much "alive" which is what moves many fans.
@anujmchitale

Not many have moved away due to lower sounds though. Back then many were turned off from the sport due to the high noise levels, as well.
@Hello_there_obi

@@anujmchitale I'm sorry but who? Just wear ear defenders. Who in their right mind would prefer a v6h sound over an engine which actually sings? A minority yes, but to say people were turned off by it. Let me tell you, a lot more people are more than turned off over the v6h engines.

@@Hello_there_obi Those who weren't hardocore F1 fans were the ones who were turned off by the louder noise.
@Hello_there_obi

@@anujmchitale not hardcore fans. Just fans. Nearly everyone ive asked and read about in articles, fans, engineers and drivers alike, want to the loudness back and prefer the sound of a screaming, wailing v10 or v8. And they all claim that to be the true sound of F1. I hardly see anyone claim to same for the v6h engines. Christian horner himself has called for louder next generation engines in the future. Stating: “We always have to remember that racing needs to trigger the emotions, and that requires a good sound” And he’s exactly right. So no. It’s mostly only the very casual fan who doesnt really like motorsport that thinks this way. And you. If you dilute something to make it appealing to as many as possible, you destroy what made it special in the first place.
@anujmchitale
2 жыл бұрын
@@Hello_there_obi Casual fans aren't hardcore fans right? Didn't I mean exactly that? When did I say I didn't like that sound? You seem to be one of those who gets a hard on just due to the engine sound. F1 is much more than that. Older generation of drivers and team principle will like that specific noise because they experienced it in their prime. Ask the same question to newer drivers who have never driven in V10 or even V8 era.

The engine management can adjust fuel quantity and time, spark time and throttle position, between the three it would be highly likely to get multiple tones together, not that I can hear it and not that they'd go to the troubly of making such a detailed map of every chord in existence.
