The timing is really hard to get my body to do it. But when it happens, the ball just flies... effortless power... it is incredible... I'm struggling to make it more consistent... like everything in golf :) but I'm on my way to playing my best... great video!

As social golfer I am amazed on how many techniques and tips on weight shift or centering the body in golf swing.. Oh add the swing positions P1 to Ps which is bit too much to master. Recently I started watching the pros both pga and lpga and I noticed that they all do one thing in common ( i did not recall seeing any 'youtubers' swing coachsaying this), they bend their front knees toward the ball at the start of their back swing. I copied the same move and immediately noticed I have better low point control and power. My gross went down some stroke that weekend and golf became fun again..

The weight shift in the classic swing of Snead and Nicklaus has changed to applying pressure to the right foot. As Tiger said, almost all his weight was on his right heel. The weight shift is rotary not left to right. Snead said almost all his weight was his right foot. Swings have changed over the years especially the shifting of weight

Excellent video and thank you Lord - explained in simple language!!! Without starting a semantic battle between “stylists” how does this “stack up” with the people who recommend keeping 55/60 % of our weight on the left side? Main reason being all that happened when a coach suggested it was I got “stuck” and armsy!

So when blending this re-centering and moving left where should your head and chest be in relation to the ball at impact? Also, on Padraig Harrington’s channel he did a video about how the body should slow down just before impact to allow the arms to gain speed to sling through the ball. Can do a video explaining these centrifugal/centripetal forces in the golf swing that allow gravity to do work? Thanks for your content!

I understand what you’re saying but a large reason as to why that hasn’t been done as that position tends to be a reaction to the downswing. It’s a flash moment so you can’t make compensations there. It’s so difficult to start the golf swing from a static position, but having a trigger to get the swing moving is really critical and so over looked by most instructors except here. Nicklaus would turn his head, Patrick Cantlay keeps moving his feet, Henrik Stenson’s move is really noticeable, but Rory’s is very slight. I think every player has to find a trigger move that clears the mind of swing thoughts for split second and gets the swing started.

All very good stuff, but I can’t help wondering whether it might be a lot simpler to simply keep most of the weight on the left side to reduce the number of moving parts. At least for the amateur rather than the pro, who needs every bit of momentum and force to hit those necessary gigantic drives.
@Gilesgillgolf

That’s stack and tilt but actually you find a lot of players struggle with backing out the shot & don’t get any speed. Some players it does work but for most I’d do this 👍🏻

Weight shift vs pressure transfer- You mention this a bit into the discussion. You are probably aware that most early instruction messed us all up with the concept of moving and shifting weight when pressure between feet and ground was real issue and current focus! And still a point of confusion. Lost of stuff going on in 1.85 seconds during a swing.

Exactly and it’s crucial you know the difference. Weight transfer is physical mass & pressure is using forces. That would be the easiest way to summarise it

Another wonderful video. What I got from it so far is that I think maybe a good question to ask ourselves after doing the throw the ball motion is, where, what and when did we feel with regards to pressure changes in our feet. Then we have made the swing our own. Your thoughts?

Potentially you are leaning your upper too much too the target, you could also be spinning your chest throwing the club over the plane or your right hip could be firing towards the ball again causing the club to be thrown over the plane. I think I don’t understand the movement properly, Im trying to shift my body to the left and kinda jump and put the pressure back to hit up on the ball and increase attack angle. The effect is that dynamic loft is like 15’(driver 8’ loft) attack angle just about 3’ with exaggerated movement. Club speed 112mph and distance 250y carry which is silly… any idea what to change ?
