Hey brother, I am a farmer from the state of delaware. I've always worked on my own equipment but back when I was doing it it didn't have all the electronic stuff like they do today. You are a outstanding mechanic and you've got a great attitude and are what a man is supposed to be. I really hope you continue to make videos as I have learned so much from watching your work. Don't worry about what anybody says, like you said it's easy to sit on the couch and criticize someone else's work. You just keep at it like you have been mine and everything is going to work out just great for you.

Warren, this is the first time I have ever commented on any video and I have watched quite a bit of YT. You’re a rare breed and a true inspiration. Honesty is the rarest of of all attributes and you my friend have it spare. Thank you for posting. I enjoy watching an honest man put in an honest days work. You inspire me to do the same. I worked for many years farming strawberries and got pushed out by all the things you mentioned. I continue to work for a large corporate grower shipper and I can tell you that you are spot on. Thanks again

I just stumbled across your channel this past week. Watching your videos brings back a lot of old memories. I ran a field service truck in the Klamath Fallls area about 40 years ago. Our service area was about a 200 mile radius. Got to see a lot of really beautiful country going up to mountain logging sites. The work was hard but I really enjoyed it. I am retired now but am enjoying watching your videos.

Lived in Klamath area since '93. You couldn't be more correct. Really hope it picks up for you. Aside from farming, Klamath County seems to do everything it can to run business away. There is no industey here, and for some reason, there are a lot of people that want to keep it that way. When a hospital is a countys biggest private employer we have a problem. Good luck, you're doung great work, and I enjoy watching your content.

Old school mechanic here... I understand. Big outfits are spoiled, they are used to paying in cycles, net 30, 60. As a sole proprietor, you're stuck in this game. Great video. As a native Californian I've seen our state government whittle away everything they can. Agriculture is all that's left after driving manufacturing away...and they're conservative...so the state has a bone to pick. See the problem? If these guys are so smart, which they've proven to the contrary, immigrant visas for agribusiness should have been handled decades ago. Sanctuary state? Look, I'm a simple guy. All the technology in the world just can't grow and harvest a crop. Yes, technology can help, but it takes hands on the ground and equipment. Oh, heaven forbid! It also takes irrigation. Your words are spot on. Some day California will figure it out. If they can't understand why so many are growing south of the border, they should understand that we can grow our food at home, all it takes is common sense. And they've proven this concept to be totally alien to their understanding. Oregon? Aw hell, they're a case study in why legislators can't function. These twits have no clue where the food comes from.

Saw my dad go through this 55 years ago, Every Christmas he was broke because everyone that he did work for in November and December wanted him to wait until Feb. to pay him. I enjoyed working on equipment and got a job working for a oil refinery in maintenance. Good job, long hours but good pay check on time every 2 weeks, if equipment had to wait 3 months for parts so be it, we had plenty to work on. Retired early after 32 years of being with them. May have had to work many Christmas and holidays but the checks were always on time. I saw what my dad went through and what we had to go through as a family, I just said no way. With you skill of being able to work on anything, you can make way more working of a big company like a oil company without having to put up with what you are putting up with. When you are your own boss, everyone you work for and deal with is your boss because they decide when you do their work, when you get your parts, and when they get paid and last when you get paid. Good luck.

I was top on the board for on time delivery and pic-up. After 6 years in and out of court. All while fighting depression from losing my truck trailer and biz. I get $650 a month on disability. Just deciding what biz to get into. In other words I can't stand being on disability. On the other hand I have friends that if they worked at there job as hard as they work at trying to get on disability they would probably be rich. I was disabled before the F%^*ING DMV pulled my class A licence. I worked with my disability for 10 + years.

Come to Iowa, I have been thinking of starting my own shop here because any place you call about getting a semi worked on they tell you 30 days before they can see it. That and the John Deere dealers consolidating and changing policies, we have one around here that has a variable shop rate by how many years of experience the tech has. It is ridiculous what some of them charge for what they do. Most shop rates are up to $130 an hour around here now.

That the problem I hear this from small business people all the time how these big companies just think that they can pay when ever they want I know some that have waited for 3 months for pay from schools and the government. But like you said they want their money now. And they know you need them and know you will wait because you can’t afford to lose them. The one guy from the school finally stop doing work for them he just couldn’t do it anymore. He was having to buy parts and had 30 days to pay but he would’ve to wait for 60 to 90 days to get his money so that money was not doing him any so he was out of his money during that time

I'd always tend to not charge for all the extras...I always thought I was investing in people's "Good Will" but in the end that was total BS! Just be sure you are charging what you should be. I went back to working for a dealership and I started doing the $$$ math as far as how much "Good Will" I should have in the bank. Turns out I'm busted...what a fool I was. Like you said there is a lot of overhead! There is a reason the Dealership is still in business and has been for 50+ years. And I gotta say nobody bitched about how much I charged.

I would love Idaho, just don't know anyone there, pretty risky starting all over.

I have kept away from the bigger trucks because of what Oregon charges for commercial license. Also entering my 23rd year as being a independent, one guy can't afford a shop & big truck. It scatters you out way to much. I use to operate like you are, now I have 2 big customers, work out of my truck, in the field or their shops..not huge money, but steady.
