In the West, we have an understanding of church that’s based more off our experience than off Scripture or church history. Most faithful churches don’t have a problem with what they’re doing but more with how and where they’re doing it.
What is the church of the New Testament really intended to be more like an event than a meeting? Was it intended to be a monologue or a dialogue? Was it intended to be a place you go to listen to merely listen to a sermon or a place you go to fellowship deeply with other believers? These are important issues and questions that we address in this episode.
But the biggest question is, “Is there any other way?“ Namely, is there an alternative to gathering on Sunday somewhere other than a building? Somewhere that doesn’t have children’s ministry? Somewhere that doesn’t have a band and a bookstore? In short, the answer is yes. We can meet in homes. What does that look like? What is a Biblical House Church?
