I'll be honest thought, I preferred the likes of Anita Baker because of the soulfulness of the songs they sang. This movie does Whitney justice. It shows who she really was. I think the movie handled the rumor about Whitney and Robyn dating perfectly. It showed that Whitney wasn’t serious about it, Robyn was. Whitney was kind of experimenting with her sexuality. Whitney may have been doing what Anne Heche was with Ellen DeGeneres, Anne was experimenting, but was mainly attracted to men. The movie tackled Whitney’s drug addiction well. This movie shows why Whitney did drugs. During times that are low, when her father dies, during the financial crisis, working constantly, miscarriages, her parents fighting at home, and other low times, she was using drugs to cope with the pain. And it shows that Bobby didn’t get her hooked on drugs like people were saying, but he definitely didn’t help her get off drugs, but neither did she with his addictions. This movie shows that while Bobby wasn’t perfect and made a lot of mistakes and bad choices, he wasn’t this monster the media painted him as. And the movie doesn’t paint Whitney as a picture perfect divine Angel, but as a great person who made some mistakes. And the movie shows how even if singers like Whitney aren’t writing the songs, most of them pick and choose the songs they want to sing, which makes them artists too. Whitney sang about how she felt, and the movie tackles that. It tackles the songwriting and music making, specifically from the perspective of those who aren’t writing the songs, such as Whitney and Clive Davis.
