Not even getting a hopeless victory where you win, but what you win is realization that there is no hope. No. The game just makes you lose which is infinitely more frustrating.

@@lCerezal what i mean is emphases like resident evil or silent hill (my fault for not being or clear on that) where the combat was a much larger part of the game as a way to make you use the resources you find, the reason why i say it feels like scorn wasn't supposed to HAVE combat is because while it tried be like an old school survival horror it's combat is just bad rather than bad for a reason. RE and SH had bad combat to make you feel more dread and make you decide weather to run or shoot but they still had movement options to make combat not absolutely absurd to deal with enemies, scorn's combat doesn't feel that way regardless of weather the combat was supposed to be there or not since the you move, reload and fire slowly, there's no real way to avoid damage unless you're a master of baiting, and the enemies just aren't fun to fight. anyone who thought this was going to be doom but with penis are stupid and probably haven't seen any gameplay (which made scorn look like a traditional survival horror) but now that the game's out it feels more like a horror puzzle game. i don't think the game is bad but i think it is very rough and i also feel like this isn't the game they wanted to make or at least it didn't turn out that way

I'll be honest. I'm a total baby. I literally couldn't get past the first part emotionally because the egg dude that you use to get through the first door is animated so well to emulate a newborn or toddler. When you first get him on the cart, just watch em for a sec and see the curiosity in his movement. I could see the effort put into it's eyes and how you could see curiosity, then abject fear after the first machine makes it bleed and then melting back to curiosity as you push the cart further along. I started to care about the stupid thing and the emotional disconnect between the protag actions and my own feelings just broke my interest and I quit after the first puzzle. My bleeding heart probably saved me from the mediocrity that everyone seemed to get from the rest of the game, though.

@ReallyBurntToast So guys, we did it! We reached a quarter of a million subscribers! Two-hundred and fifty-thousand subscribers, and still growing. The fact that we've reached this number in such a short amount of time is just phenomenal. I'm just amazed. Thank you all so much for supporting this channel and helping it grow. I, I love you guys. You guys are just awesome. So as you can probably tell, this isn't really a montage parody, this is more like a kind of 'thank you/update' kind of video. So for this video, I'm quickly just gonna go over two things. Firstly, advertisements, and more importantly, the future of this channel, and what kind of direction it's headed. Okay, so firstly with the advertisements. [Oh my god, you sellout! You're a fucking sellout, mate!] DUDE, SHUT UP! Believe it or not, but montage parodies are actually a copyright mine field. New content is actually becoming claimed by companies, everyday. We could use something from, let's say five years ago, and tomorrow a huge company could come along and claim that product as theirs, and we have no control over that, meaning that any video we use that product in, could either get copyright striked, or lose monetization, meaning that all've the money made off that video would get sent to the company, and not us. The only real way to counter this, is to get advertisements placed onto my channel, I mean it's a win-win for everyone, you know. I get a safety net generated for myself, the company gets exposure, and you guys, my subscribers, sit through a two second advertisement, that'll be as short and painless as possible. So, next I'm going to talk about the future of this channel. [MOM, PYROCYNICAL'S SELLING OUT TO MAKE MCDONALDS LET'S PLAYS!] This doesn't mean in any way that I'm actually quitting montage parodies, you know, they're basically why you subscribed to my channel, and I enjoy making them, there's no reason to quit. Because I'm in full time education, I have less time to make and upload videos. It used to be weekly uploads, and now it's pretty much just once a month, but in my opinion, uploading isn't enough. I'd like to upload more than that, I mean as much as possible, but montage parodies take a long time to make. That's collecting the resources, coming up with an original idea, you know, all this stuff takes time, and planning, and that combined with me being in education means that they take a while to make. A good video that goes into detail about this is Rubber-usses video on the future of independent animation on KZitem. It is a different themed video, because I don't do independent animation, but you can still kind of relate, because obviously, as uploads become more infrequent, channel traffic stops. This is why I wanna look at making videos that are related to montage parodies, but aren't exactly meta montage parodies. Like I said before, I'm not quitting montage parodies. It's basically seen as either you wait for me to one video a month, or I upload one video a month, with a bunch of other, you know, kind of funny gameplay stuff in between. A great example actually, would be games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but at the end of the day, it's all down to you guys. You guys are my subscribers, and I would love to hear your feedback on what you'd like me to do next. Be sure to comment, down below, your thoughts and feelings. I'm gonna try to respond to as many comments as I can for this video. I would love to hear your feedback on what kind of videos you'd wanna see, any future ideas for the channel. I feel that, because you're subscribed to my channel, to an extent you're inclined to, you know, share your thoughts and ideas, and have a say on what you think I should do next, and it's really appreciated, guys. And lastly, I just wanna thank you guys. Thank you for helping this channel grow so quickly in such a short amount of time, I mean, I started doing videos like these just over a year ago, and I never expected my channel to grow so quickly in such a short amount of time, just from montage parodies. It's amazing, you know, I've been reading the comments, and some of them have just been genuinely amazing, you know, I've been told, uh, like people have had depression, and they've found these videos, you know, therapeutic, and they've enjoyed them, and it's really, you know, lifted their spirits and stuff. It's just amazing how my videos can do that to people. And that really, you know, motivates me to want to do more videos, it's just, thank you all so much for giving me this opportunity. It really, it really means a lot, guys, you have no idea. And lastly, I wanna give a shoutout to all the people that helped make this video, whether that's voiceovers, animation, stuff like that. Scorn was never marketed as a first person shooter. It had a part in the trailer where the protagonist had a gun and shot it. It never stated anywhere that it was a first person shooter. You're not even meant to shoot the animals in the game, you're meant to leave them alone. At every opportunity they have they will try to run away, and they dont attack you when doing puzzles. 99% of the encounters you have can easily be avoided if u wait. All the animals are on a set path and go through holes that despawn them. They wont chase you outside of the room they are in. A youtuber made a video on this, the animals are just another puzzle in a puzzle game.

The biggest mistake that I've seen people make in the game is that they try to play it like an FPS Shooter and just shoot any enemy they see, but what they should have done is wait it out for the enemy to go away because they're dosile enemy and won't attack unless you go near them

Which is almost 1:1 the issue people had with Dark Souls when it came out. Every argument I've seen against Scorn (beyond the "it's gross" ones) has been a near-perfect rehash of the DS1 hate. Insane how little these people have learned. - It's too hard (eg, "I don't like it when games require me to use my brain and figure out solutions on my own") - It's too slow (eg, "I'm so used to Pay-to-win I cannot tolerate grinding") - It's not the genre it looks like (eg, "I'm unable to comprehend that not every game is a hacknslash/FPS") Interesting how everyone's on their high horse about how hand holding, pay-to-win mechanics, and uncreative game design are what's killing the industry... until someone actually doesn't do that and they have to git gud.

It's not the most hated game of the year people are just disappointed because so much of the game was left on the cutting room floor. The only thing it has going for it imo is its strong atmosphere, the puzzles are hit or (mostly) miss and the combat sucks. It doesnt matter if the combat isnt the point its still there and you have to do it, so I count it against the game.

it has impeccable design and atmosphere the gameplay is boring and can be finished in less than 4 hours after years of development it's not even a full package imo rushed gunplay with 4 total enemies in the game at that point including guns is pointless just make it a combatless puzzle game, the total play time of the game really do be a joke tho for something that's been anticipated for the better part of a decade. side note: so many parts of this game I feel like were added just to pad the time so it gets over the 3 hour mark like for all the time in development they must have cut some content or like had some sort of mass issue behind the scenes that delayed it this much.

This game doesn't suck ass bcs it's not an quirky first person shooter No, I didn't even expect it to be a shooter This game sucks, bcs the ONLY finished part of the game is GRAPHICS My problems with this game are: 1) No lore... You learn about 0 lore during the playthrough. Yes, devs have lore in the artbook which is about 192 pages but that's not what I wanted. This is like expecting any person playing your game to use the Wiki, so they can learn at least something about the world they are in. That's fucked up! 2) Puzzles. I like puzzles, but I guess NOT highlighting any interactables like the puzzles was done to make this game more atmospherical, but... damn, I wasted a lot of my time going from corner to corner, mashing buttons until I could use something. sorry, but I didn't like it 3) Kinda related to lore, but it's importatant: Attachement to the character... there is just none. Your ScornGuy just kinda knows hot to interact with everything that you see while you DON'T. Usually, you "learn" new stuff along with your ingame character, but not in this game, which made my ask questions like "How the fuck do you know hot to use this thing" a lot 4) That's just me being a little bitch, but music in this game can be described as "Brown note", literally So, what I want to say here, this game is just like the other game that I was expecting, which is "Agony". It could be great, but suffered from the poor delivery If I wanted to watch H. R. Giger artwork, I would do just that, but you can't just mash some graphics without at least any kind of ingame lore and more or less enjoyable gameplay Scorn is also similar to the game named Journey, bcs Journey does not tell you any lore, but you CAN actually enjoy it's gameplay, music and visuals, which sadly cannot be said about the Scorn

This is an interesting game. It really is uniquem and for that, I like it. It doesn't have a "happy ever after ending" or a super generic story. It really just wants to give off of a feeling of hopelessness, of hell, and I think it nails that. It looks and feels like it is a visual representation of despair, from every encounter, from every character, they're all contorted and distorted, struggling, but for what? We don't even know what our protagonist is trying to reach for, but he is clinging to something, clinging to something when the world is clinging to him. I like it a lot for what it is.

hey pyrocynical, I don't know much about the hype surrounding this game, but I understand that it was mis-marketed to an extent? People expected a first person shooter, but there was a reason behind it, again i'm not 100% sure what it is, but I do not think that people just wanted call of duty but with flesh walls when they complain about this game, I mean look at it, how the hell could this be something like call of duty? Beyond that, the devs made a promise of moral choices being a component, and from what i've seen (yes, I am too much of a pussy to play this myself, deal with it), it doesn't really have any? The only one I am aware of is the one with the guy in that shell at the beginning, who you can put either in the saw machine or the scooper. Even then, this choice did not have any nuance in my opinion. As the game doesn't explain the setting, I have no concept of what would be the 'morally right' thing to do. I mean, looking at the state of the creature you can save/kill, I would not be surprised if it wanted to die. Ethically, this could be complicated, depending on how one approaches this situation, but I wish there were more clues and subtle hints given as to the true nature of the choice you are making. Also, from a game design perspective, why would you make the saw the thing that saves the creature? I would intuitively assume the big razor saw would kill him, cause, y'know, it's a saw...? I thought the scooper would be safer because I assumed it would just remove him from his shell, not kill him. I think this is a miscommunication in game design, or the game developers assumed that by default, people would want to save the creature and so, made it unclear as to which one would save him and which would kill him. I do not think that is nuanced. Purposefully not explaining something and asking/raising questions which do not have an easy to find answer are 2 very different things. This was not an interesting moral choice, the choice was already made, the problem was that how to execute it is not clear. People wanting to save him and people wanting to kill him might get the opposite result to what they wanted, but that is not what was promised, this would be misdirection, not choice. This is the main thing that I am aware of. That some promises were made, which were not kept and some marketing material was probably misinterpreted, leading to the game's hatred. I am certain that a percentage of this hatred is misdirected and irrational, but to dismiss all of it as 'wanting a quirky shooter' is not fair in my eyes, though you are free to disagree. Also, it may have been meant as a joke, but I would compare it to your 'Birmingham' joke shortly after your 'quirky call of duty' statement. One was more clearly an absurd joke than the other, and I personally felt that subtle elements such as your tone of voice and the editing style (although though you may not have edited this video) gave me the impression that you were not joking and genuinely believed the majority of hate this game was getting was unjustified. I do not think it is possible to determine what percentage of the haters know about the underlying reasons behind the hatred of this game but I know that there are solid reasons for an individual to dislike this game, beyond it simply not being their preference. For that reason alone, I personally feel it is unfair to dismiss all hatred toward this game. However, this is my opinion. You are entitled to your own. We may not even disagree, and this was simply me not understanding a joke. Either way, I do not mean to imply that you are at any major fault by that statement, good day

The main problem is that they literally just drop you off in a huge massive circular room with other small rooms. All open with a shit ton of levers and buttons to push. And each input has like a 10 second mf animation. Its like if GTA 5 was a puzzle game but the levers are spread across The whole map. And you have to walk to them instead of driving. So it’s just trial and error until you find 1 lever that does “something.” And then you spend 30 more mins pulling more levers that do absolutely nothing. Each with a 10 second animation btw. And then you get tired of pulling levers so you quit. The game literally DOESNT tell you shit

Combat isn't scary, its either win if you have ammo or most likely win even if you don't. Theres nothing to be horrified of the entire game. It's an atmospheric walking simulator, but atmosphere can't carry a game for FIVE WHOLE HOURS. It's long enough for actual mechanics, yet has the mpst basic shooting and puzzles. It has nothing to offer other than a geiger artstyle, and of that's what you're after theres this thing called google and it allows you to view geiger paintings anywhere.

The thing ive hated about this sort of game is that the puzzles in this sort of game are never good. Give the player consistent rules and ways to understand their environment, and then you havent added a "puzzle" youve added actual gameplay. Whats the point in dumping a unique and convoluted puzzle onto the player every time you need a puzzle when you could design a few basic templates and have it continually evolve and let the player truly understand how to solve them. Theres a difference between actual puzzle games and this sort of thing , and its always this type of "minigame" puzzle game that treat puzzles like one and done gimmicks which end up sucking balls.

I don't get Editors doing the cringiest and most KZitem-Tutorial-esque pop-in animation to texts. They make the text(s) harder to read especially if they go out quickly because the KZitemr is talking fast. Even just text(s) without the animation is 100% better. But the whole idea of burnt-in captions is meant to be "let's put this text here that stays longer even if the guy has finished saying that specific word so the deaf people can read them without having to turn into Flash or A-Train from The Boys". Just use normal texts, that stay on the screen longer than 0.5 seconds. And also group multiple texts, have like 5-6-7 words at once that stay for about 8-9 seconds. Or just write closed captions in KZitem itself so people can choose to open it if they decide to *have/develop ADHD from watching all those TikToks with the fast low-duration texts* or not.

We've have been waiting 7 years this game and was promised a pretty intense survival horror experience but instead we got a game that's more like bendy and the inc machine. It's fine when a game changes direction but you shouldn't be shocked when people are disappointed by it, especially since the marketing hadn't reflected that change until the game came out

@@OrionDawn15 Did you finish the puzzles? Because it is an FPS horror game, and puzzles are a staple of horror games. They just aren't usually frontloaded onto a massive fucking intro segment and then vanish for the most part. @@kylegonewild I love how every atmospheric First Person horror game is spoken of like it's a clone of that dogshit walking sim, but I digress. The whole game goes for surrealism and interpretation rather than outright explaining everything in obnoxious detail, and given it's Geiger inspired that's a pretty obvious choice. As far as the "gunplay" have you considered that you're playing it wrong or are just shit? Because I had no issue, but I also didn't play it like it was a Run & Gun 90s FPS.

One of the most hated games of the year if not ever? What? It has 73% positive reviews on Steam. It's far from being one of the most hated games ever. Even this year, it's not even close. I even saw a gaming site in my own country give it an 8/10. If you want to see one of the most hated horror games ever, look up Agony instead. Scorn seems generally liked, even though it's not everyone's cup of tea. I personally liked the experience.

There are plenty of games with a generally positive rating but in the more dedicated section of gaming is hated by people. Think of something like the recent CoD games. For the general populace it's just another CoD game but for people that look below surface level it's hated by many for being generic and cash grabby. Many of Ubisoft's games are like this as well. The general populace typically don't know the specifics of what goes into making a good thing they usually just know if they liked it or not. It doesn't help when a game is in development for a very long time with an extremely dedicated hardcore fanbase waiting for it to release and it comes out as a massive disappointment. It's a tale as old as indie titles have existed basically.
