So glad you addressed the issue of estrogen dominance. In the past I could only find information on PCOS and seems to be the only issue regular gyno’s are familiar with if you are insulin resistance. Also thanks for the in depth look at methylation pathways and estrogen. Don’t wait too long to have Dr Seeman back to discuss menopause. Last thing can we drop the discussion on Dr. Lame I really don’t care about the naysayers, if they don’t want to join that is fine. Eventually, the success stories speak for themselves. Thanks again and happy new year.

It took me about 2 months to adapt to eating carbs. You CANNOT feel better in two days. Once I was able to gradually add in healthy easy to digest carbs, I felt much, much better. Lowered metabolism from low carb eating will negatively affect thyroid and hormones. I hope there will be a trend in 2020 to move to build up and nourish, and not focus on restrictive diets. It's not all about blood sugar! Comparing junk goods to carnivore makes no sense. Compare to balanced healthy foods.

Great interview. Here’s my New Year’s beef 🥩 : If we can get the phrases “whole foods” and “balanced diet” out of the conversations, it will do us good. What is a whole food? A whole Oreo (don’t just lick the sweet goo in the middle)? You would eat the stalk and roots of the broccoli (that’s whole, right?)? What the heck does “balanced” mean? I shall balance my steak with the hide of the animal and 4 oz of bourbon? These knee-jerk slogans hide reality and are not informative. Sorry to diss the T-shirt, ☹️but it almost sounds like an ad for a certain expensive grocery store.
@Marco-jx9rr

Well, whole food has a lot of sense expecially if applied to meats. Salami is not equal to a fresh raw meat steak. The tons of added fats of the keto zealots is another form of refined garbage. Seed's oil is worse than refined sugar
@yvonnefinnegan4039
4 жыл бұрын
@@Marco-jx9rr We are in agreement. What I am saying is that the terminology "whole food" is a little imprecise. We should use "unprocessed" instead of "whole," because the latter term can be loosely interpreted and misunderstood (we will not eat the whole, i.e., entire animal when we eat steak; we will be eating an unprocessed or minimally processed portion of the whole animal). I also agree that many "keto" foods may not be optimal and seed oils are horrific.

The only way to know whether a low carb or carnivore diet wrecks your hormones is to test it by yourself or ask people who've been on these diets how they fare after a significant amount of time. @JARRET MATTA I do strength training every day. If I eliminate all carbs performance drops. Expecially volume goes down. Also tapping too much from adrenals and impared cortisol. No matter the months I sticked to a strict keto diet to "adapt. It never happens. I use honey, white rice, potatoes (not sweet pot.) And other starchy roots. Also use a kind of Anabolic diet approach, so high carbs 2-3 days a week. In those days I keep fats very very low. Carbs are a great source of energy, no matter the keto claims. Even they make you lean in the context of very low fat, but there is no need to do it everyday. The point is having them in the correct "ancestral" form and timing. This fatphobic vs carbohobic war is pointless.
@yvonnefinnegan4039
4 жыл бұрын
@JARRET MATTA My bad. You are correct. Brown rice has plenty but white not so much. So now that I have your attention, would you use these carbs before a workout? After? I heard that a cup of rice is the same as 12 teaspoons of table sugar, yikes! I am worried about a big insulin spike after eating rice. When you've seen your dad have his leg amputated due to diabetes, you think twice about everything. I do endurance running and can eat sugar or its equivalent with no problem while on a 2+ hour run, but that's about the only time I allow myself this kind of food. I have to put on weight and it's very hard for me because meat satiates me really fast, so if any source of carbs works, I am ready to try.

Layne has the attitude which he has taken is something which somebody takes when they think that they are being self righteous but he don't have any idea about the real clinics...I've commented there on your previous debate that how hideously he was trying to say about GLP1agonists,diff between diverticulitis and diverticulosis, it was clearly evident (and only a well read clinician or an academic would understand) that he don't have any knowledge about these topics and just blabbers some medical facts which fits his counter arguments... He hadn't had any integrity in his own arguments in the debate...there are very few well read clinician or academic from the medical field on KZitem (as most I've listened don't have much basic knowledge) which really gives him the opportunity to go after them...you were getting under his skin in that debate as unlike others you can catch his bullshit when he tries to interject one...

My thoughts are, and this is purely anecdotal because I'm not college educated. I think everyone has different levels of carbohydrate tolerance, that specially depends on their own metabolic and hormone health, that can ebb and flow with varying life changes over time. But once you've inflicted enough damage on your body and make yourself insulin resistant the only way to repair it is by eliminating the cause aka carbs. Once insulin sensitivity is repaired, metabolic and hormonal health is restored, it's probably okay to reintroduce whole lower glycemic foods. Like berries, green vegetables, walnuts, etc. Okay, being the operative term. However, I think the majority of people, should hardly ever consume white sugar, white potatoes, or white flour. I say hardly ever, because the thought of just never indulging in an a sundae again, is just too sad for my mind to contend with lol. Basically, to a certain degree, the level and kind of carbohydrates the body can consume without detrimental effects, is solely based on that individuals hormone balance and insulin sensitivity. Which could vary wildly, even in one person's lifetime.
