Yes, and what's amazing is that he was one of the strongest players in the NBA, the only ones in his category were Wilt, Wes Unseld, Nate Thurmond, Bob Lanier, and maybe Kareem (by the way, all Hall of Famers, I believe),. Willis was truly a great player and an ultra-great man, and this is coming from a Celtics fan.

The Bucks title never happens if the Knicks had a healthy Willis Reed in the 1971 playoffs. He injured his shoulder in game 1 of the Hawks series and wasn't able to shoot and the Knicks lost game 7 to the Bullets 93 to 91 and later Wes Unseld admitted we knew Willis was hurt and couldn't shoot and was a decoy and used for picks and to rebound and play defense. It was the only time in 6 series from 1969 to 1974 that the Bullets defeated the Knicks and that propelled them to the finals! In 1970/71 the Knicks beat the 66 win Bucks 4 out of 5 games and they had defeated them in 5 in the 1970 playoffs. For his career, Willis Reed won 15 and Kareem won 6 despite the Bucks winning 304 to the Knicks 266 games from 1969 to 74. Willis Reed only played in 99 games his last 3 seasons and yet the last two times that Reed played Jabbar in November of 1973, Willis with his bad left knee held Jabbar to 18 for 40 shooting and only 44 points in 86 minutes! Kareem does not win an NBA title without Magic Johnson if Willis Reed was healthy!

I agree. His shooting is really good and I am sure he would extend it to a modern 3pt line. And his size and athleticism would make him a true 2-way force

I probably saw most of these games live on TV but.. Sometimes one forgets just how good he was. Jumpers, fade aways, hooks, crazy layups, ball handling, defense, rebounding, he had it all. It was really refreshing seeing footage without three pointers, boy did that ruin the game. Just my opinion, don't shoot the messenger.

EPIC….6/25/42 to 3/21/23 Willis Reed tore a muscle in his thigh in Game 5, missed game 6, and could hardly stand up, much less walk...it was a game time decision for him to play game 7, but he knew the Knicks needed him to stop Chamberlain...he limped out of the locker room onto the floor to the famous "Here comes Willis!" from Marv Albert. #newyorkknicks #willisreed #madisonsquaregarden #basketball Willis' INSPIRATION + Clyde's VIRTUOUS performance = Knicks' championship May 8, 1970!, R.I.P. 🙏🏾🏀
