Great Video Mike. I feel like i have only been following you for a short time! puting silage into the towers is new for me, i assume that the natural compaction preserves the silage and hence why you chop some and come back later and add more, thanks for sharing
@mikep7810

Yes, once the silage is in the silo it will compact and settle. That's why we will open it back up and add to it

Ahh, upright silo's🤬. I always ran the chopper, but I also had to climb the outside to unplug the pipe or adjust the distributor (Dad didn't like the no cage ladder), so I often went back and forth. We had top unloaders, so then I had to fork them level. Don't miss that one bit. Great video, love the panorama views from the top!

Really enjoy watching your videos. They bring back to mind a lot of good memories of when I was younger and able to do things. Never did drive a tractor with a cab. I think they call those other ones "open station" now. That was a term never used when I was a kid, cause they were all out in the air, but it was a good time in my life... and I appreciate you reminding me of things that I've missed for so long. The cows will love all the feed. Harvest is going well and you'll appreciate not having to worry about running out of feed. Continued good luck and stay safe.

Your getting closer to a good place, having harvest complete. Our harvest completed with picking the hazlenuts (Filberts), their in the drier. Unfortunately in shell size was down this year, and market is weak, but orchard grass hay, especially in small squares, market is strong so we should be in descent shape. Hoping things keep running well! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)

Another thumbs up video Mike. Get that silo filled and then fill it again. I'll be watching for the combine videos. You know I always remind you to be safe because things happen fast and without warning. Just the other day one of the farmers in our area was moving round bales one got away and rolled him over. Hurt him pretty bad. Just take that extra second or two to be safe

A little silage in the coffee isn't so bad. We got 4" of snow but it all melted so now we are heavy into fall tillage. Hopefully a little silage in coffee is the worst thing to happen for the rest of the harvest. Sure does sound windy at the top alright .

You are dedicated to making videos. To climb up to the top of the silo, set up the camera, climb back below the roof line and then be seen on camera popping up over the side. Lol. I definitely ain’t doing that twice. It did add a nice touch to the video though.

Great video, I’m new to your channel and I love the 50/55 series Deere’s we do have them in the uk here but they are getting rearer and not many good ones left. I do wonder if they could start building them again how many people would buy them as if you look at new kit now they really are cheap horsepower. All the best from the uk.

Mike with that style silo do you have any issues with gas when you close it up and open it to top silo off. I know on top unload silo we had you had to keep blower running to push gas out before you got in to level it off after it settled
@mikep7810

Yes, you have to be careful when opening and closing the silo. There is a warning right on the hatch that warns about the gases from the forage
