I am freaking ridiculously impressed with this project. I was heartbroken when your 6 took a dump. I am doing a rebuild myself on 200 cid 65 Mustang I have had since 1987 with similar plans to what you had. Great evolution on your build. Very inspiring.

Thanks! Yeah it was a bummer when that straight 6 died, I was looking forward to getting it running. Glad to see you’re keeping yours alive!

When you first started- I was cringing, looking at all those wires. You handled it like a boss.

I have a bunch of fuse boxes saved but once its time to wire up a new project, I never use them 🤣

You have way more patience than I do, really nice work, I’m glad that you are able to reuse a lot of the explorer parts. As an aside I would suggest putting relays for your headlights also, all the power goes through the headlight switch and creates a lot of problems, if you use the factory headlight wires to trigger two relays your headlights will be much brighter and use a lot less load due to old wiring

That's a very good call, didn't realize the headlights weren't on a relay from factory. Might also explain why my headlight switch died.

Rebuilt cluster looks great, not as good as a 65/6 5 gauge cluster but close. 😁

You should consider upgrading to a dakota digital dash. Looks like the original with more availability for info from your current set up.

I do like those Dakota digital dashes, I really considered one for my Challenger build but man, they’re SO expensive. Almost 1,500 clams for the Mustang setup :/

@noboltsleftbehind given the electrically heavy aspect of your build, the dakota would fit very well. I get it though. Funds are always an issue. I have been stockpiling parts for about 2 years while doing engine rebuilding and interior/exterior clean up. It's not as painful over time. And I have the wife's blessing to boot. I got the rtx for the 65.

Do you have a list of all the wires you removed “ non essential wires” I’m doing the same thing in my 66 with a 2000 exploder donor.
