Out of all the videos I've watched to try to understand this process, this series definitely goes to number one on the list. A lot of series' just don't explain the process well and it's frustrating trying to learn how to do it. Even though you claim to be no expert, this was a quite informative and captivating series of videos you put up! Thanks!

If you want to buy any more of that type of pin, they're actually called Quilting Pins. Long pins with a big plastic ball head on them are used to hold quilting layers together until they're sewn to make a whole quilt. They're long so they can go through a layer of cloth, then the batting and through another layer of cloth and back up again. You need big pins for that. They do get bent, so buying new ones is a must from time to time after you've bent enough of them. They're not expensive. You can get them at Walmart or Jo-Ann's Fabrics.

Hey John, cool vid. :) I see your solar panels in the background, but don't recall a (recent) video on them. Can you do an updated solar video showing what you've got and how it's set up? Oh... and how about that wind turbine too? :) I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks!

BTW - if you only want the tannin, try cold water leaching of ground acorns as they are loaded with tannin. After leaching them you can dry them (slowly) in an oven and use them in baked goods.

Tall Cedars Leather guy here. I wouldn't soak a rabbit pelt in lime water. The skin of a rabbbit by itself is so thin that it doesn't have much value except maybe for rawhide dog chew toys. Rabbit skins are most valuable as a fur. And lime water will slip the fur off, leaving you with just the skin. IMO, rabbit isn't strong enough by itself to make anything. It has to be used as a liner, specifically a fur liner. Just my two cents. Good luck with your projects

Is there a reason you can't put a hide (or multiple hides) in a smoker? I have been thinking about building a smoker big enough to have 4 hides in it and want to smoke them all at once. Would that work?

Dude, my girlfriend and I laughed so hard when you plugged me with the PBR comment. We were not expecting that at all. But you're right, that process was created for men who know what a great, once upon a time, American beer is supposed to taste like. I would enjoy visiting sometime to see first hand what all you got going on there. But after I get out of the state Texas and back home in Kentucky. Take it easy JNull0.

Is there any good reason that you could not just use your smoke house and smoke it like a piece of bacon? If that would work it would save you a lot of extra effort and you could probably smoke a whole lot of hides the same time.

@pyrofful

I hope you get a reply to. You can do it that way but this way is probably quicker since the smoke hits it right away and is more concentrated than having to fill up the smokehouse with that dead air space. I also think I read that this forces the smoke through the hide better but not sure about that. I think his way is quicker but I have done it others ways. More than one way to skin a cat I guess.

John I love your videos and have watched them for sometime but one thing that gets me and ruffles my old granny hill feather is when you say="HOLY" then crap after it. John do you not realize that"HOLY" pertains to God? let alone add crap after it. Holy is reserved to describe God. Please stop this so more blessings will come to you. God bless you.
