Thank you so much for sharing your daughter's experience. Kawasaki Disease is very rare. It would have been a very difficult decision for any clinician at the hospital your daughter attended. St Thomas' Hospital ED is the only hospital in London who would accept paediatric patients with KD and they will refer the patient to Evelina Children's Hospital at the same site.

And as Kawasaki is a syndrome based largely on clinical signs, it is difficult to diagnose early on which I presume is why her daughter was kept in to confirm diagnosis and treatment. I've seen children with Kawasaki Disease treated in other London hospitals -I've seen it as a student at St George's Hospital in Tooting .

@@lehvak8567658 Absolutely, Torvin. Thank you for clarifying this. My thoughts were further down the line and the statement was intended for paeds with known KD history and having signs and symptoms typical/atypical of ACS. My apologies to the viewers.To all the parents watching, if your child is unwell, do try to speak to your GP during working hours or phone 111 for the out of hours GP service. You can also make use of your nearest Walk in Centre or directly to your local hospital Accident and Emergency department.

By the way u can go 2 eteach website look 4 any part time job at school in yr area, much better than delivery especial u get kids.
Depends on the type of chronic medical condition you have. Common conditions like hypertension, diabetes, thyroid problems, etc are managed directly by your General Practitioner (GP - primary care). If the case is particularly difficult - such as requiring specialist investigations to reach a diagnosis or medications - the GP will refer you to a hospital to see a specialist (secondary care). You will be seen by the specialist (hospital consultant) who will likely organise specialist investigations and management. Once diagnosis is reached and treatment plan is initiated, the consultant will likely discharge you back to the care of the GP with a management plan and advice as to if or when you need to be reviewed again in secondary care. Depending on the funding of the area you live in, sometimes certain medications cannot be prescribed by the GP so you may remain under the care of secondary care, who will review you regularly and continue to prescribe your medications. In rare cases, secondary care consultants cannot manage your condition (very uncommon) and refer you to a specialist hospital (tertiary care, examples include specialist heart hospitals, cancer hospitals, childrens hospitals). Patients under tertiary care are usually diagnosed with really rare or complicated medical conditions and generally remain under their care for a significant part of their life. Medications which require a doctor's prescription are not free but are charged by the pharmacy that dispenses your medication - fix charge per item as pre-determined by the NHS. Many medications which treat simple things like headaches, pain, diarrhoea, nausea, skin problems (i.e. over the counter medications) cost money and the price is dependent on the pharmacy. If you have diarrhoea - yes pay attention to your electrolytes. You don't need to see a GP necessarily. You can buy something called Dioralyte but to be honest drinking water is fine.
In HK, we have to visit DR to get the DR certificate for applying sick leave, how about UK?
@Dancerc
3 жыл бұрын
most UK company wouldn't ask you for a letter from the doctor as long as you're not off for too many days. (I'd say it's good if you may get a doctor letter when you're off work more than 3 to 5 days)
@@csho303 Yes and No. Insurance companies like Bupa, Cigna & AXA need a GP referral. If you are self-paying then no referral needed. Also you can go to your private or NHS GP ask for a referral (NHS GP will happy to refer you to private specialists as it doesnt cost their referral "budget")
