Mesmerizing stuff! I have been trying to create a similar effect using ray tracing, but I seem to be messing something up because it doesn't look right at all :P Is the source code for this available anywhere?

Is the throat length really big here? Also I'm very intrigued by the intense zooming out and zooming in as you're traversing it, I wonder what causes it! Also there seems to be those two weird black circles on top and bottom, which I guess is because of the "poles" issue!

This simumation is almost the first one I did. There was an error in the numerical code, hence the zoom-in zoom-out effect. But this effect is funny and beautiful, so I left it in the video haha! If you watch the other videos on my channel, this problem no longer appears ;)

The question that I have is would a wormhole actually warp space time like this? I’m inclined to think they won’t because only extremely heavy and dense shit can do that to a noticeable degree and a wormhole does not seem like a physical object that I can touch, but a hole that light from another point in the universe is coming out of.

Wormholes are a solution to general relativity equation. This solution is mathematicaly exact but it doesn't mean that they actually exist. But if they do, they should look like this beacuse I solved general relativity equation in a wormhole metric. You can find other simulations similar to mine (but much more precise and beautiful) on KZitem. For example this one : m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/p6ejxYN9bZanfqg&pp=ygUgYWxlc3NhbmRybyByb3Vzc2VsIHRyb3UgZGUgdmVycmU%3D

@@Davideos I only find the web adress of your youtube channel there.. In an other way, you can try to download it at this link : drive.google.com/file/d/1Aw4Fa9GbwJsJ1ndkkBvYwtU7B7qlO8Hi/view?usp=drivesdk You will find a python code which is the "main" code (the one you should run). This code will start a fortran code (.F90) which will calculate 3 matrices (RGB) corresponding to the deformation of your backcround pictures by the wormhole. Then the python code will read these matrices to construct the final picture. You should have installed the gfortran compiler for python to run the fortran code. If you have any questions, just ask ! Enjoy :-)

Is worm hole is a black hole?
@pierre-jeancharpin409
2 жыл бұрын
No, they are two different things. A wormhole is a "door" between two different space-time positions. A black hole is a space area from which nothing can escape.
@SpartanMap
Жыл бұрын
No, a worm hole is like a hole in space with a bright blue light around it. Once you enter it you are travelling in a long worm tube type thing. At the end you will end up at the place where the worm hole ends.

I calculate the trajectory of light rays in every direction. If one ends inside the wormhole, I use one of the two pictures and if it does not, I use the other
@valentin_bunin

Thank you for your response! Sorry, but it's very hard to understand for me what is exactly the "wormhole" here. What type of geo is it: a sphere or a tube between two spheres textured from inside with HDR like map? It's just close to immpossible for me to imagine the actual viewport layout of the geometry, because it's clearly not just a shader play of simple reflection + refraction + lensing. It must be something more.

Thanks a lot ! What do you mean by "between two videos" ? You are asking for two "background videos" instead of picture ? If yes, it is not possible in this version of the code but I think it is possible yes ! For the source code, I can share the one which creates only one picture (a wormhole in the middle of one background picture), not the code to create the video. I'll send it to you in a few days ;)
