yeah, I think we stepped back from life, just at the right moment - got our travelling done when things were still quiet (sounds like chaos out there now) and are now revelling in our own piece of rural quietness... it feels like we are camping every day, even though we are at home. We do miss our travelling in a way - that thrill of not knowing what is over the next hill on a road-trip to somewhere new never gets old.

...only every time we pass someone towing an off-road van 🙂... we can imagine how crowded most places would be now that nobody can head overseas on their breaks. In one sense it is great to know so many people will finally be exploring their own country for a change and it hopefully pushes a little revenue out to the bush, but on the other hand it does suck the magic out of a lot of remote places, to have so many people there.

We used Pinnacle Studio version 15 as it was simple but powerful enough for two old farts to be able to use, but sadly Pinnacle was bought out by Corel, who rebadged their own (awful) product as Studio 16 and the brilliant old version was lost forever. You may be able to convert the Route Generator (avi?) files to something compatible with Movie Maker, using something like Wondershare. We moved countries about 21 years ago, so a quick hop over the Bass Strait was a little less intimidating for a pair of grey climate refugees.

@@MrHunterjagterFun I had the happiness to travel around the planet as a child with my parents, as an adult and I paid for the trips, I crossed Europe, Africa, America 100% of the countries, Asia almost everything, Oceania only Australia and New Zealand, in total 181 countries, Three countries remained in my heart: Iran, Canada and Australia, to have an idea, from Australia, every day when cleaning the air filter, I collected some of the dust into a glass jar, "stole" sand in many beaches, today, I look at that glass jar, smell Australia! Most of the sand or land stolen for this glass jar is from Tâsmania, this land has little dust!!! I'm seriously thinking about buying a sailboat, and I'll go where I haven't gone yet (it's almost just islands) but, only three countries are priority: Iran, Canada and Australia, believe me, I really like Australia! it's a land where I wouldn't mind dying, yes, it's just like that! I think that Overland Australia summed it up- "Bugger!" Tassie is where my wife comes from, or should I say, was born there before the family moved to Melbourne. I personally haven't been to Tassie yet. My wife and her mother did a "memory lane "trip a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I hope the arm is fully healed Heather! We asked ourselves that question a few times while we were there :) - seriously though, we are keen to retire to Tassie and wanted to see it at its "worst" (we have already been there in Summer many moons ago). Arm is healing well, so running out of excuses not to do the dishes, housework, etc.

The arm is almost as good as new. Certainly put the breaks on our trip as it was rather sore initially, and Steve needed to help me with just about everything I had to do. At least it happened towards the end of the trip, and not at the beginning! The east coast of Tassie was gorgeous. Bicheno was a good base to explore from. We had then planned to head up to Swimcart Beach and Stumpys Bay and camp alongside the ocean, but it was just too hard with me out of action. Saved for next time.

We braced ourselves for the grim weather down south - it would probably have felt worse, if we hadn't just spent weeks in the total dry, with people and flies competing to see who could annoy us more. As to the getting bogged...not much fun at the time - we clawed our way out by the skin of our teeth and we were very remote - little chance of anyone coming along, no civilisation for many kilometres... a bit of a wake up call. A lot of the Murray is flanked by some pretty gnarly, bottomless clay. As to getting rid of the outback "veneer".... elbow grease with a scrubbing brush when we got home.

Glad you enjoy them Peter - we have various cameras, the main one is an old Canon XA10, still going strong after many trips to the dust and desert, diving trips on liveaboards, Antarctica, tropical islands, etc, so pretty amazing it is still running (much like ourselves). Our editing software is Pinnacle Studio 15, sadly the last version of Pinnacle before they were bought out by Corel and the simple, but excellent software swapped out with Corel's awful excuse for a video editor. Music is just added through Pinnacle, but it is always a struggle to tiptoe around the ever changing copyright rules on KZitem - videos that have been fine for years, suddenly get blocked, because some executive and a record company decides to make a change to the rules.
