That was Coronation Street at its very best, brilliant acting by all three, and Mark Eden was especially good as Alan Bradley one of the soap's greatest villains

He was a nasty piece of work so I liked the way no credits were shown for the omnibus episode as if to say “The End.”

Ahh... such classic characters as Benny, Miss Dianne, and Shughie McFee. I was a young teenager, and coming home from school I'd watch it. In hindsight it was truly awful ..but the characters linger like a fart in a spacesuit.

As the description informs when it was recorded it would have been on VHS, and whilst that is of a lower quality then more recent media, it is to show the unusual omnibus ending for those who have such interest

The show today is a shadow of itself 20 years ago, which was a shadow of itself 10 years before that. We tuned in 2-3 times a week typically to see Alec up to a new scam, the Duckworths at loggerheads and the Wiltons fretting over their neighbours - i'd go back to those days in a heartbeat

Personally I prefer the longer credits at the end, it doesn't sound right now that ITV have shortened the ending theme.
Lovely, genuine, warm person. With a wry sense of humour!

Before video recorders and the internet Corrie was like the bread and butter of our lives. The characters were household names . The script writers, directors and actors etc nailed it. Haven’t watched it for over 20 years.

When I was in my twenties, I used to go to this pub and the men would shout out " " Hello Miss Diane" or Where's Benny" Lots of people would say I had the look of Miss Diane about me. Still, I am more than happy to be compared to the lovely Susan Hanson.

The theme was rerecorded in 2010, although the middle 8 part was missed out. All the other parts were included but, sadly some (new versions of the ending theme and the previous "end of part one" theme) have never been used on a TV episode.

They filmed this up the north end of the prom away from the main attractions because it would have been virtually impossible to shoot this scene in the central area with nigh on a million rubber-neckers gawping at the camera and getting in the way.

I think Alan Bradley makes a great competitor for Coronation Street's top villains along with Richard Hillman and Pat Phelan; Alan served as an inspiration for both of these and many other corrie villains. I would say though out of all Richard Hillman and Pat Phelan are at the top, closely followed by Alan, and then the others behind him.
