What a genuinely charming person Susan Hanson is. She is still acting and apparently she was is a recent episode of Casualty. She is also the widow of the late great singer Carl Wayne. Another genuinely charming person - and what a talented singer. Miss his great voice.

When I was in my twenties, I used to go to this pub and the men would shout out " " Hello Miss Diane" or Where's Benny" Lots of people would say I had the look of Miss Diane about me. Still, I am more than happy to be compared to the lovely Susan Hanson.

I was born in 1970 but have fond memories from being about 4 onwards of Crossroads, the original Emmerdale farm with grandad and ma (sheila mercer) also general hospital and crown court! as my gran always what those in the afternoon onwards when she looked after me while my folks were at work! They say Television ( well the 3 channels we got then) can make an imprint on children when they are younger and I think it's true! ..well I remember all of the above from being 4 onwards ....but it's not like TV these days where anything goes more or less they were MUCH tamer times back then in tv land on afternoon tv (unless you got to stay up late) and what things like till death do us part, love thy neighbor, mind your language, it aint half hot mum ect that these days are not shown due to them being offensive or racist! (strange though how uk gold still shows dads army and corporal jones going on about fuzzy fuzzies!) THANK GOD for NETWORK ON AIR were you can buy a LOT of those classic series on DVD or blue ray (and not at expensive prices) i bought the full series of your only young twice with the late great peggy mount and pat coombs that never get shown now either cause its set in a reiterment / care home and they dont want to offend anyone with everything being so woke these days ...folks sadly take offence at the slightest thing these days!

@@dizzydevil547 racism is made worse by trying to deter racism ..which defeats logic somewhat! It wasn't racism though back then. It was light-hearted and affectionate humour to our fellow neighbours.. Think of all the Irishman Englishman and Scotsman jokes .. Would we call it being racist? No certainly not! We only laugh at some silly ways of an individual ..or their culture that we weren't familiar with and found things funny ! But humour isn't allowed, we are being stripped of being able to laugh at ourselves..as too many are finding everything offensive.. No body dishes out offence ..just the people who take it , as such. 😣 Thanks for your wonderful look back on everything I too remember ... fondly !! 🌹💐🌹🥀

I was upset when Crossroads Exective producer William Smethurst axe Miss Diane from serise and the unfairness treatment by Central television for axing of the midland motel soap on Easter Monday in April 1988. i was please when it return in 2001, but soon went down hill by itv Carlton who revamped the show into the Yevon Grace era in 2003 and once again was given the chop, but this time forever.
