I live in Aurora Colorado. Im a white male and i experience racism almost everyday. Not only do black people look down on me i get dumb rich white girls looking down on me too thanks to tik tok and Instagram. I get treated like garbage even when i try to be the nicest person. I got in line yesterday at the dispensary and a black guy came in behind me and the cashier was black and took the guy behind me first. I was like "hey i was first" and they just ignored me I just walked out and went across the street.

I'm a white male living in a mostly black neighborhood, and have been targeted in similar ways (less now that I'm older in appearance for some reason). My house and the other white couple down the block have been vandalized on multiple occasions. I had always assumed it was just 1 dumb kid or something, until one time I had to stop because a group of kids were playing basketball in the street. They went to move, like they would do to other cars, but stopped when one kid leaned to see me better and shouted "Oh it's alright, he's just a white guy!" and they made it a point to putz around and keep me from moving on. Multiple adults were seated on porches around me, and none seemed to bat an eye. That was when I knew there were a lot of people in my neighborhood who felt I should be mistreated due to the color of my skin. Same schools, same workplace, same neighborhood, shopping at the same stores, but my skin looks like those powerful people who live somewhere else. The idea of a group having power doesn't matter to the individuals. Unless I have power it doesn't matter if someone who looks like me does, and the person who has power isn't helping me just because we look alike. They aren't helping anyone but themselves. It's a free for all, and we pretend like it's a team sport, to justify a victim/oppressor list.

Lmfao of girls looking down on you and a black guy skipping you in line is the most “racist” thing you’ve ever felt. And don’t consider how other minorities are looked down upon as less than human, you’re proving white privilege exists lol

@@stuarteastman5623 Yup, I can see that. Think I had a coherent point at the time but failed to convey it. Hard for me to fully understand being on the receiving end of racism is all I can think was my intended, poorly worded point. Either way, I wasn’t of the mind that I was adding anything groundbreaking. Just a simplistic “racism is bad” and that I, personally, can’t conceive of how it feels. Drinks were enjoyed prior to my original reply.

Yea. It's a coping mechanism. Edit: Wanted to clarify that #1 it's a completely understandable coping mechanism. 2, while the old school racism (talking in pejorative terms about about a race etc.) is bad, currently the one that's having the most negative affect on marginalized people is covert racism. This is the point of the presenters are trying to make. The biggest problem is systemic racism. & whether it operates hatefully and overtly, or under the guise of niceness, "color blindness, etc" covertly, its most damaging when done by people in power. That has historically and contemporarily mostly been white people. Ergo the theory that black people can't be racist, which is technically incorrect. This is why the CRT and social science folks are emphasizing race being a subject that can be openly talked about, whereas the movement during civil rights was to make race a topic that can't be brought up in the workplace, etc. This combined with what is colloquially called "cancel culture." paints an accurate picture of people who hold racist beliefs. This makes CRT seem regressive, and trying to turn the dialog of race backwards. However, CRT folks argue that since the nature of racism has changed, the efforts of fighting racism must change as well, or at least that's my opinion. IDK why I'm going into depth about a topic in which you need a lot of book learning on a comedian's video who obviously doesn't. I guess it's cause I know Bill has a black wife, and he's wealthy. So he should have the time, relationships, and resources to know stuff like this.

@@theinngu5560 I dunno dude. Americans in general are taught to be self deterministic & racially individualistic. We believe that everything good that comes our way was out doing, & everything bad that comes our way is our fault. The reality of the situation, especially when you look at it from a sociological & economic view, is that it doesn’t matter as much what intersection you’re born into: race, gender, whatever else. It doesn’t matter as much how much drive, intelligence, work ethic or attitude you have. The greatest predictor of socioeconomic success in this country is wealth. How much money & property your parents had when you were born. I think a lot of ppl, especially after the pandemic, realized how many hours we’re working & how little life we’re living & are changing the old American way of thinking to be less individualistic & more systemic. I’m all here for it.
@johnnycrenshaw9438

@@theinngu5560 not to belabor the point but I don’t think it’s healthy to ignore people’s lived experiences. If someone says race has affected their lives & it hasn’t for you, it’s not any of our places to tell them to ignore something they’re going through. That’s counterproductive & just reinforces their experience, rather than accomplish whatever it is you want accomplished. If someone thinks that any particular race doesn’t care about them or people that look like them & that they’re being discriminated against, the best way to prove them wrong is to be an example to prove them wrong. & that doesn’t mean give the annoying “I have a black friend” excuse. That means actually caring for them. Listening to their experience, & offering support & aide wherever possible. If you wanted to really prove this country isn’t racist & it’s all in the woke peoples head, then prove your point by being a wholesome counter example.
