I built a cetme c kit. One cool trick is when putting the barrel in you don't need a press. Freeze the barrel overnight and it will go right in with block of wood and dead blow. I know....sounds silly! Happy building buddy!!! You are doing better than 99 percent of people with their kits laying in closets!!!!

I always find it funny on all of these rebuilds that the builder tells people not to break unconstitutional laws.

Things I've learned along the way. Always replace the ejector and spring. The roller bearing as well. These are fifty year old guns !!!They are all reasonably priced. Also check the bolt gap before and after test firing. These old cetme guns are awesome 👍

I know the chambers of the CETME are fluted to use gas pressure to help release the case. That might be why it won't extract the dummy rounds when you're manually cycling the rifle.

you can easily check to see if your barrel is straight by looking down the back of the receiver with the stock removed and look down the hole of the barrel look straight down the bore of the barrel and see if the barrel is centered in the receiver

You can install the barrel by freezing the end of the barrel with some nitrogen, get a can of wart remover or something similar, there’s lots of options out there. Once you get it cool enough, you don’t have much time to get the barrel fully seated since the barrel will start warming up and expanding to its original diameter. Always mic out the diameters before you start the process since the barrel might be slightly too large and won’t seat even if you pressed it in. So how can you reduce the barrel diameter if you don’t have a lathe? You can use a wood lathe as long as it has a centering chuck and a live center so the barrel is stable as it rotates. Once it’s seated, get some 220-300 grit sand paper and form a strip wide enough to cover the surface area you want to reduce. Sand it for about 45 seconds while applying medium pressure and stop to take a measurement on how much you took off. Repeat the process until it’s all uniform and in a safe range to seat into the trunnion with the freezing process. Another option if you’re desperate is to use a power drill and rig a way up so it spins with some stability while holding the sand paper. These are just a couple ways you can consider to help the process but maybe you have an idea that’ll work as well or better. My only advise is to go slow since it’s a booger trying to put that metal back on when you took too much off! When installing/welding the barrel and trunnion to the receiver, build some kind of temporary alignment jig, use some 2x4’s or plywood scraps and a jigsaw and lots of screws. The goal is to have the jig hold things in proper alignment as you weld. Just use a couple small spot welds on both sides then check alignment and fill the welds. If for some reason it’s still off alignment, heat up the area behind the welds on the receiver with a propane torch and use a lever like a 3 foot long piece of pipe to slightly bend the receiver in the right direction. If it’s way off, forget this part and remove the receiver and try again otherwise you’ll ruin the receiver. Good luck friends.

I watched a video of a guy using a c clamp and and 2x4 to press the barrel into the trunnion, that’s my plan, glad I saw it

How much do you charge to build this parts kit? How much is a barrel and receiver?

I don’t have an FFL, so $0, because I can’t build it for you. It’s not hard with basic tools, and it’s a good learning experience. I think a barrel and receiver will run you $4-500.
