I actually met Jane Rossington (who played Jill) when I was working as a shop assistant in Harrods. She bought a rugby shirt. She was absolutely lovely. I was quite starstruck and excited, but my colleagues had no idea who she was. Lovely lady.

Jane Rossington always comes across as a lovely down to earth woman in interviews. You're lucky you got to meet her. It's so sad that she now has dementia.

Loved (Jill) Jane Rossington, such a classy actress, I liked the original theme tune by Tony Hatch, the ATV logo at the start, shame that Central stepped in and sacked the star of the show - but that’s life, the show must go on.

It certainly changed British TV, it's daft story lines, fluffed lines and wobbly sets gave us all a laugh!

I always wondered why Meg’s children were so different. Jill was so posh and Sandy was a Brummie through and through.

I always loved it when McCartney's version played at the end, which was very rare, sort of made up for the punishment I'd just gone through, only having 2 channels back then sucked, BBC2 was like looking into an empty paper bag.

People obsessing over this are nuts though. They need to get out more. I saw the ads for Crossroads in 1964 with Meg standing in the street before it all started - and watched it for years. It’s hard to believe it will be 60 years ago next year. Nearly all the original cast are dead. I’m sorry to hear that Jane Rossington has Alzheimer’s.

I don’t know if it was true, but I was told there was a minor accident on the old Zebra crossing by my house in North Wales, and it was a Rolls Royce being driven by Tony Adams with Noelle Gordon in the passenger seat on their way to catch the ferry to Ireland.
