“Must be great to be young” if only he knew how old Julian actually is 😂 goes to show how youthful he continues to be in essence of music

Your father almost tearing up staring into the void at Julian's master craft lyricism on "ode to the Mets" devastating ending and you bobbing your head and smiling is a juxtaposition if I have ever seen one.. I was hurt deeply inside by them as well.

It's funny your dad mentioned The Killers as a similar band. I don't remember where I saw/heard it but The Strokes' first album was a major influence for the likes of The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, and a few others.

Strokes ARE the favorite band of the frontman of arctic monkeys 'alex turner',he even has a lyrics that goes like "I js wanted to be one of the strokes"

How would that be even possible knowing amonkeys first album was out like in 2005. Instead, monkeys are influenced by the strokes

“The Adults are Talking” seems like it’s about parents arguing too. The high pitch and low pitch vocals going back and forth reminds me of like a mom and Dad arguing in front of a child “I know you think of me when you think of her” like the Dad is cheating.

Julian Casablancas said in an interview with Fantano, that the chorus from Bad decisions was intentionally done to sound like dancing with myself, pretending to be changed somewhere down the road but decided to leave it like that. If I remember well, he also said that Billy Idol was aware of it.

The best strokes album. This album single-handedly got me through 2020. Hope you do more of their records. (2:50 The album cover is an art piece by Jean-Michel Basquiat btw)

“Is this it” is the best guitar album of the 21st century, so by default is better than this. This is great but in the words of jules from pulp fiction “it’s not in the same ball park, it’s not even the same fucking sport!” If you were around and of a certain age (I was 20) when “is this it” was released then you will understand how good that album was, it literally created a genre, changed music, changed fashion and in an era of nu-metal domination, it was earth shattering. Nothing comes close. A literal masterpiece. My favourite album of all time and every song is killer

Julian Casablancas actually did a cover of that SNL christmas song your dad brought up right after The Adults are Talking. It is called Christmas Treat or sometimes I Wish It Was Christmas Today by Julian Casablancas.

I'm 45 and my son is 25. I love when he shares his interests with me and can articulate why he likes it. Being open to new things keeps you young, and communicates to others that you care about them deeply more than words can. You've raised a good kid. 👍

The strokes is a good way of getting someone you like into rock if they’re not already a fan of rock. I was a huge rap fan for so long til I started getting into rock a couple of years ago and now I feel like rock is so much better man.

Bad Decisions starts off sounding SOOOO much like Modern English’s - Melt With You. Also heard a little Billy Idol-Dancing with Myself Very reminiscent to the 80’s and I don’t mind one bit! ❤

Ahh yes, thank you for giving Melt With You a shout out, I hear that all the time when I listen to Bad Decisions.
