I know. I saw the skit on youtube. I dont have a tv license and never watch live tv and have not watched BBC output since pre 2013. And I am glad I no longer pay for this sort of crap. I clicked on the link to the video by mistake, got a tingle thrill seeing the 70s Tom Baker era logo all new and shiny, then the classic Dalek, then when diverse assistant appeared I just shrugged my shoulders. The whole point of the Kaleds, etc was that they were space Nazis...there was no way Davros would have had him as an assistant. It was Gharman in Genesis and he was not of the ethnic denomination. Then Tennant, looking superb and full of energy commands the screen for a minute or two and makes more impact than Jodie did in her entire run. And I felt like crying over what we have lost. His brilliant woman quip just made me wince. I wont be watching the specials, its just going to be too painful to see something I used to love so much, once more. And yet not the same and about to be corrupted and twisted and subverted all over again, just in a different way. The Jodie era was bad enough, I dont want to have to get upset all over again......

These shows do not deserve the benefit of the doubt or second chances - they are not a person with a soul - they are meant for entertainment if they're not entertaining they are worthless to us all. Seems like RTD is projecting anyway - clearly he's the one feeling lonely and unaccepted if he truly believes that a persons opinion about fictional characters in Dr Who is somehow a metric for how fulfilling someone's life is. With a mindset like that it's no wonder storytelling in his industry is so insipid and woeful.

My father was in a wheel chair, and he loved Davros, even to the point of a huge Terry Molloy poster on his bedroom wall, I know people now in wheel chairs and love Dr. Who, they are very upset they are changing Davros, they love him just as he is, writers think they are a clever clogs, but they are not, my best friend played an iconic character for years, new writers came in all the time with no understanding of what my friends tv character was about, the writing was so unlike the character my friend portrayed and what she would say, in the end the writers left the parts of my friends script blank, so she could write in her own lines, before that my friend was forever crossing out lines they had written, and changing it to what her tv character would truly say. Making a HUGE mistake changing Davros, he is half man, half machine. As for children, they are not poisoned by society, they see half man, half Dalek, and they love being scared of him. Stupid thing to do to such a wonderful villain, people love Davros, just as he is, quickest way to finally ruin Dr.Who, I should think Terry Nation is rolling in his grave, and Michael Wisher.

If like everything suggests this becomes Chibnall 2.0, people will leave and viewing figures will drop to about the number the they where during Jody´s last season. And the BBC and all other woke media out there will write articles either dodging the real reasons for the decline of the show and/or blame the fans for not supporting this new doctor.

I was going to watch the three episodes. Just because I loved the Celestial Toymaker and usually enjoy NPH - I was ready to try them - especially with RTD back.. but yeah, sorry, I don't have time. If your politcal "message" doesn't get in the way of a good story, I'll endure it. But RTD just made it clear these weren't made for me. They can enjoy all of the commercial success that pandering to a poor audience of about 80 people will bring. And that is just sad, because the Doctor used to be for everyone. You are correct the Tenant numbers will be higher (but minus at least one - me ) but very few will hang around for "Ncuti" ( which rhymes with? ) Did you see Tenant and Tate in Much Ado about nothing? - god that was awesome. In 2005 when people were complaining about the "gay agenda," I had a moment of clarity where I realised it wasn't gayness I had a problem with, it was sexuality in general. Classic Who was always largely asexual with most heterosexual love being very innocent. RTD was determined to sexualise this childrens show and it has resulted in a generation of fans who are only fans because of gay representation, trans representation or shipping. It is a show fulled with innuendo and sexuality.

100%. Although I enjoyed Matt Smith's doctor as a whole, I found all the innuendos from Moffat really annoying - the character works best as asexual or romantically disinterested and parts of Smith's run just felt weird and horny to be in a kid's show (Amy forcefully kissing him case and point). All of that was me feeling uncomfortable with heterosexual jokes many years ago. Now when people make the exact same complaint in the modern show, it's ignored because it's 'homophobic' or 'transphobic', when the argument is literally that sexual innuendos or a heavy focus on sexuality shouldn't be written into a kid's character. It's so dumb.

And RTD will complain when the show's ratings fall lower than ever before. He's also utterly ruined Davros. As far as I'm concerned, the show ENDED with the 50th anniversary special. It was a PERFECT sendoff, with the Doctor finding hope again, and going off on a quest to find his home after touching base with one of his most classic former selves. Nothing more was needed. That is THE END for me. All the rest is basically bad fanfiction.

@SteveyTheEx-Eevee Sure. Sexuality is such a basic part of the human experience we would have trouble relating to him if he didn't. Every one has an AH too, but that doesn't mean it should be made the centerpiece of a show or a story . What can you tell me about the Doctor's relationship that produced offspring? How about the offspring that produced that grandchild? Anything at all? Doctor Who was always fundamentally a kids show and some topics are just not generally appropriate or even relevant for that audience. But okay- some people think they are. ( I won't hazard a guess as to why) The thing is the doctor is a very old, very wise being. I am 53 and I couldn't imagine dating a woman in her 20s- just because of the gap in her experience versus my own. I wouldn't find that attractive. The Doctor - being much older - hitting on or participating in romantic relationships with his very young human assistants - was always creepy to me. Its fine if his assistants get crushes as they are only human ( most of the time) - but the Doctor should simply know better - and did through the classic run - even when Romana was on board - and she was a timelord herself (making it much less creepy) . New Who incorporated a romantic angle with most of the assistants - usually having to artificially elevate those assistants to the Doctor's level to make it work , and it created some very satisfying story arcs - but I see it as a Timelord midlife crises- it fleshes the doctor out a bit in a satisfying way for me as an adult - but still - He should know better. So no, it didn't ruin my enjoyment of New Who, but really I would have been just as happy if the Doctor had remained the character he was through the classic run. It just always made the New Who Doctor's less - doctorish to me.

I'm probably one of the few Dr Who fans (classic series) who believes RTD is over rated. I felt his run had a very different tone/vibe from the original series and that apart from the odd monster redesign here or there and Tenants Doctor, I didn't really care for his show running. Never cared for the Captain Jack character or Doctor and Rose will he/won't he romance..... totally un-Doctor Who, we are talking about a 700+ year old alien who, despite his affinity for Earth and Mankind, is pretty detached from emotive motivations of the romantic kind, especially with that of a young human female.

I was going to actually give these a chance - Because I love Tenant.. Heck I even watched that last season of Capaldi ( He was great, the stories about lesbian space oil? Not so much) Heck, I half figured that Clara was going to turn out to actually be the Doctor this whole time since the constantly wrote her as smarter and better than the Doctor. ANd , yeah, I could have lived with that..if for no other reason than the fact that Jenna Coleman is so pleasant to look at. I liked Missy, and it was a nice change form the usual master. Could they have done a decent female doctor with he right casting and some good Stories? I think so. But no, they decided propaganda was better. (and I long for the days where I was irritated at there being any hint of romance between a Doctor and his assistants) ANd then they bring back Tenant and RTD and think they might be triyng to right the ship. ... But Hey, now I know RTDs feelings about people who literally just want the Doctor Who they became a fan of instead of a politically hijacked sermon and vehicle for woke ideological propaganda. You just know no one wants to see your propaganda. So you hijack a name with an audience hoping to fool them into watching? Remember when Looney Toons were hijacked for WWII propaganda? Yeah, I don't like those either. I'll just pass. Because there are 60 years of Doctor Who without that I can watch . Or did you forget you are in competition with your back catalog? No one has to tune in for a show that has Doctor Who titles, but is no longer, in any meaningful way - Doctor Who.
@Simon-xc5oy

More or less my thoughts exactly. All I will add is I never thought a female Doctor or a female Master was a good idea. It was too much change, too much of a leap after 50 odd years of it being a man. Clara started out really well, but then it became all about her, and that really annoyed me. I want to see Doctor Who as the Doctor and not the companion. You could see where it was going and I hoped I was going to be wrong, then Jodie was cast and I gave up totally. I wont be going back. I can see the specials and the D.T. return for the desperation they are. And RTD blasting fans like that reminds me of Zeggler, Brie Larson, and all the people that say if we dont like it then dont watch as its not for us. Then rip into us again for not watching when it tanks! What do they want from us ??? And all we want from them is to be entertained. I bet the ratings for this are interesting. When it goes out live if it gets 6 - 10 million they will be ecstatic and crowing. If it gets more than that, they will be insufferable. But that is still fairly low when you think of how many people are living in the Uk now. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.....

The biggest problem with "current year-isms", is that they don't age well. You can watch classic Who and still enjoy it, but if tastes and culture changes in the next 10 to 20 years, current Who is going to be unwatchable. There are shows from the 80's and 90's that were about current things (at the time) and are now cringeworthy at best.

I decided to watch the episode (Star Beast), just to see how it would feel after all this time to go back to Tennant and RTD, as well as the return of Murray Gold. We all miss those days, and the trailer did look amazing, so I just couldn't resist watching. Sure, I knew there was going to be a cross-dressing character somewhere in it, which is not something I could ever feel comfortable watching for prolonged periods, but for this special episode, I was prepared to just mentally ignore that dude, in the hope and expectation that this would otherwise be a truly great episode that would win everyone over and say "Doctor Who is back, baby!". RTD has had so long to think up new stories, this was surely going to be some of the best TV we've ever seen? But oh how wrong my expectations were. The trailer made it look WAY better than it actually was. This was TERRIBLE. And believe me, I am not saying this because I hate RTD or I'm being sour. I've always thought RTD was talented and I genuinely WANTED to like this. But the fact is the episode just sucked. *Childish writing* This was an all-out RTD dud. With his great legacy of reviving the show, and so many excellent episodes under his belt, it's easy to forget that this is also the man who gave us absurd turkey episodes such as the farting Slitheen or the Adipose. There have always been moments when you wondered what the hell RTD was thinking, and this episode was such a moment. The writing lacks all maturity and credibility. It's so babyish, it feels like it could have been written by children who won a competition. I realise that RTD didn't invent the "Meep" alien, but this interpretation of the character, and his evil plan, was one of the most corny, unrealistic, cartoony paint-by-numbers things I've ever seen in a live-action TV production. The Meep lacked all nuance, subtlety, or believeability. Absolutely no motivation to be evil other than "I'm the villain, mwa ha ha ha ha!". Embarrassingly bad. On the plus side, the production was quite good, with superb special effects for the Meep, and Murray Gold on top form as always. Though I found the cinematography a little dystopian. A 100% night episode, and all the sets looked very ugly and hellish. *Woker than woke* Of course, the elephant in the room is just how INSANELY WOKE this episode was - to the point where you have serious concerns about the mental state of a writer. This man seems so psychotically captivated by the grip of woke agendas that he has to completely hijack and ransack this beloved TV show in order to batter the viewers over the head with his politics stick. It's totally unprofessional to bring these kinds of controversial and ugly politics into a family show like this. Watching the episode is kind of like having RTD strapping you down on a table and trying to inject his ideological serum into as many bodily orifices as he can possibly find, so that there's nothing left that isn't woke. And, my god, the episode is just SO super woke. The villain, of course, is an evil transphobe, and we have to suffer all these lectures about how great the trans religion is, and how narrow minded anyone is who doesn't believe in it (which is almost the entire world population). We're also told that it's absolutely fine for everyone in the episode to be constantly commenting on how physically attractive a 13-year old girl is. (A 13-year old girl played by a man in his 20s.) Ironic that the episode is about a creepy monster pretending to be something it's not. *Loopy plot* But wokeness aside, the entire plot feels equally unhinged. The episode may begin with some slower moments to build intrigue, but by the latter half of the episode, it's turned into a dizzying, frantic stream of nonsensical babbling, wacky events, and outlandish exposition. For me, this was always the very worst aspect of both RTD and Moffat's eras - when they basically just wrote a series of crazy, magical events, explained away with a few flimsy passing words of explanation that carried no real weight. In other words, drama that isn't justified by the plot. All talk with nothing to back it up. Nothing resembling a true story. So with the frantic, crazy plot, and the INCESSANT wokeness, the entire experience of watching the episode makes you feel kind of sick. *Reflections on Tennant's return* Before I saw this, I truly thought that no matter how good or bad this episode was, it would be unquestionably great to see these beloved characters back together again. But it wasn't. Catherine Tate does a great job, no problems there at all. But Tennant doesn't really even feel like the Doctor any more. He does at times; at other times, he actually seems more like it's just David Tennant. Even his accent slips into something more Scottish at times (whether that's deliberate or not, I'm not sure). The whole thing lacked a sense of credibility, feeling less like a legitimate canonical episode of Doctor Who and more like some kind of unofficial spin-off episode. Rather than the cast _playing_ those characters, it felt more like they were playing _at_ being those characters. Perhaps the biggest problem I had in believing this truly WAS the Doctor is that the Doctor always used to be supremely moral, but this "Doctor" has apparently thrown his morals in the bin and is endorsing sexual perversion. And the difficulty with suspension of disbelief was further hampered by the fact that literally 1 second after the credits start rolling, David Tennant appears in the corner of the screen and starts talking in his Scottish accent advertising another show. Way to ruin the mood! What ever happened to the end credits being a time to quietly reflect on what you've just watched while you listen to the music? And, again, the music WAS good. Gold did a superb job. Who's Who? But here's perhaps my biggest indictment of this episode. When the Capaldi era was on TV, I stopped watching the show because I was kind of sick of the writing by that point. I didn't like the Capaldi era. However, after seeing this UTTER GARBAGE this evening - to my surprise, I found myself really wanting to go back and watch Capaldi, because his era now seems so pure and undefiled compared to this. "Doctor Who?" indeed. Who is the Doctor? Where is he? What have they done with him? It feels like a very long time since I last saw the character. I'm willing to accept that Doctor Who reached its 50th birthday, but I would seriously question whether the show reached 60.

He seems to have fallen for the foolish notion that because this very small section of society (no more than about 2.5% of the population) are very vocal, that their numbers are much higher than they are. And also that all Gen-Zers are fully engaged with it. The demographic experience of the MCU tells you that's not true. Since Endgame it is the younger part of the audience who have walked away. 40% of the audience were under 25, but for The Marvels that's collapsed to just 19% aged 18-24, and only 7% aged 13-17.

Thinking about it, wasn't it RTD who brought Davros back in the first place in "The Stolen Earth"/Journey's End", EPISODES THAT HE WROTE!? I don't recall him having issues with Davros' disability back then.

It really is a tragedy, they took a great show called Doctor Who and turned it into DOCTOR WHO THE F**K CARES. Feel free to steal that one.

I just watched the Children in Need sketch with Tennant etc and had a look in the comments. I joined in and made the mistake of pointing out how bad Jodie was in the Chibnall era and got monstered. It was like starting a war. I made the decision a while back I was not going to watch these specials or the new series with Nguti, for all the reasons mentioned in this new video. I had no idea the Transistor person was in the specials I thought all the new RTD woke stuff was coming in the new series and we would at least get some good Doctor Who for the 60th. Looks like I was wrong. Dont give up or go away BowlesTrek. We all love what you do. We knew you were right. The people on that comments section are so blinkered and so in denial about everything its a wonder they know which way up is.....

Please talk about RTD’s retcon of Darvos. Villains can’t be disabled now, I guess?

bbc could have had russell handle fans concerns any other way other than the disney way and fans would have withheld their judgement. instead of reading the room and going with the "give it a chance" angle (which most who fans would have), he decided to make this is the "hill the show dies on" by telling fans he doesn't care how they feel one tiny bit. this ploy did NOT worked well for this show under chibnall show using it. considering the amount of fan goodwill chibnall destroyed with that attitude, it's surprising russell is using it. so: nothing has changed; nothing is going to change; and the show will continue being run by bbc executives producing crap no one wants to watch...

Dead right. I was going to give it a chance. Not now. Telling me in advance that you are just going to produce propaganda isn't the best path forward. But that is okay, I have my pathetic lonely life to go live .
