Love you guys! For everyone thinking I’m keeping garage door closed your crazy! It’s always at least cracked 2’ with a big old floor fan pumping air in/out. I mean I do dumb things on occasion but this ain’t one of em.

Hey lad you need to go to a electric water pump. That factory pump can’t pump the water around the system well enough to cool the engine. Give it a try.

I was going to recommend a restrictor plate over a thermostat at least for the time being to get her burped. My 46 has a 460 (Ford) and I have to run a restrictor to keep the temps under control.

what did you do w the pipe that connects from the tstat housing to the head? its about 5/8 pipe and connects to head? We eliminated that and we had the same problem
@Dwight_Scottspeed_motorsport

hey not sure if you blocked the internal bypass port off in the thermostat housing on motor? the factory style circulates water past the thermostat and when it warms up it closes the rear port off as the thermostat opens and then all water flow goes through thermostat to radiator. there a clip in video with the factory housing and "dual acting" factory thermostat. have a look at it.

You guys missed the part where it had nothing to do with air in the system. It’s the crappy design of the aftermarket thermostat housing and thermostat it used

Well, we caught that! At least, I did. But all that bubble nonsense is a waste of time, regardless of whether it was the issue. All rear engine and mid engine cars need a vacuum bleeding device.
@markkearns7113

@@RT-kr7dk I agree, the vacuum system is the only way to go. I have a 996 that had the wrong coolant in it. I flushed it five times to get it all out. With that vacuum kit it took me 15 minutes per flush start to finish without any issues with an air bubble. He’s wasting his time
@gr4eme1975

@@baysidefabrication I had seen that, it was more advice seeing as you have fought this issue on two builds now a vacuum coolant fill would have saved you a day and 3 shirts. You would have probably still had to use the inline solution but it would have resolved a lot faster with less aggravation.

Maybe your water pump is inadequate? Perhaps an electric pump and thermostat delete.

Car cools down just fine. The swivel housing and aftermarket thermostat combo was the problem. Looked it up and they actually discontinued the part because it simply didn’t work. If you look at a stock dial spring t stat vs this one they are very different. If I could have fit the stock thermostat housing on I would have
