I feel very close to this aircraft. I grew up in Edmonton and lived near my elementary school downtown, directly on the approach to the downtown airport. These 737-2s would fly overhead AT LEAST every hour as businessmen and women from Calgary would fly PWA(Pacific Western Airlines) into the core and often back the same day, or next. What a treat. It was such a common site however, that I think I took it for granted. Ahh, the memories...

I wanted to add, the Edmonton Municipal Airport(The Muni), as it was called, closed its doors to scheduled service but maintained charter and private plane services. Such a shame. The idea was to have ALL commercial air traffic move to YEG (Edm. Itnl) in order to attract more routes to YEG. However, it's an hour by taxi to the DT core from YEG. I remember there being a referendum on wheter to close the muni. Hmmm...15mins from td from the Muni to your meeting or 1hr 15(at least) from td to the dt core by landing at YEG?!?

Takes me back to the days of Frontier 737-200s landing at and taking off from Forbes Field in Topeka, KS, in the late 1970s. It was right at transition time, when Frontier (the original) was introducing a new look. The turquoise/gold scheme was being replaced by the orange, red, and burgundy stripes that looped over the rear of the fuselage, with the new "F" insignia on the tail. Great memories. The airport in your video has a similar visual feel to how Forbes Field was at the time. I remember walking up to the fence and being able to watch the planes as they would arrive and depart. I can still feel (and smell) the jet blast, when the plane would turn. Great video! What an awesome takeoff run, too! That was a gorgeous takeoff!

What a great close up video of one of my favorite airliners! Loved the sight and the sound of it. Whe I was a kid I used to go to my local airport to watch the 737, only aircraft that landed here. Thank you very much! :)

This is it folks ...the pioneer of commercial aviation...the 737-200 founded many airlines back in the late 60's and early 70's...Pacific Western, CP Air, Nordair, Transair..all had work horses...the airplane that real pilots flew..no LNAV/VNAV.. Vor to Vor navigation...old school....Aviation in Canada wouldn't be the same without these beautiful birds that started it all

If I were king of the world, all jets would be required to use low bypass jets and hush kits would be outlawed. To hear one of these jets in person is absolutely electrifying! Pure power and bad assery! Boring turbofaned planes of today just don't do anything for me. Absolutely nothing. Thanks for posting!

The first plane I flew was a Boeing 737-200ADV of Alyemda Yemen Democratic Airlines in 1988. The plane was amazing! The way it touched down, whether was pilot's technique or not, it was so smooth...you couldn't tell if it was still in the air or it has landed...I think Boeing should consider upgrade this exceptional machinery into 737-200MAX with winglets, and new upgraded more powerful engines. Definately there will be some interest out there especially for VIP and Governmental purposes. Thumbs up, if you think that Boeing 737-200 has still the potential for active service...
