GURPS was my first RPG. I started in the deep end, lol

Returning to GURPS and found this a helpful refresher. I hope to see more GURPS content here.

Trying to put every GURPS splat book in one campaign is how I imagine Rifts and World of Synnibarr were made

I pick GURPS up in the late 80's (1st Edition) and loved it. But I could never find anyone to try it. I have bought 12 source books sofar and that's where GURPS really shines. I know people who don't play, but have bought source books just for the material.

Well, actually...SJGames still puts out new GURPS material, but the pace is measured, and the focus isn't on new optional rules, but how to use the existing ones for specific cases. I'm biased because I like being able to run completely different campaigns with detailed rules but only having to learn them once.

Thanks for the clarifying details! With as extensive as just GURPS's core books can be, even guides on using existing rules can be helpful.

My son has all the GURPs book and I have the Hero System 6ed. Please keep these kind of videos up! Your videos are so well done and easy to understand. These really help him and me understand each other games. You can’t believe how bad some of the other videos are. Keep up the good work!

For the longest, I prefered HERO until I found GURPS' Energy Reserves rule in the Power book and one of the books in Dungeon Fantasy. Without Energy Reserves rule, IMO, creating superheroes and D&D-like high-level characters was clunky.

Sounds like a lead on other GURPS books to look into.

You also really need the Supers book, for the overpower enhancement to allow stupid effective strength and so on.

Still not sure if I want to get unto GURPS. Even after watching this. I feel like I'd be happier with The Fantasy Trip.

When it comes to ttRPGs, I always prefer a specific game for the genre or setting I want to a generic game.Though, since I haven't read TFT myself, I can't give you any more guidance other than what you'd expect to find in GURPS. ...TFT seems like it'd be an interesting relic to read into, though. It's the second old school RPG i've heard of that was composed of a bunch of generic modules put together. (The first one I heard of being the OG Cyberpunk that used the Interlock System. Though, I've also heard rumors that some original sets of D&D were a bit like that, too. An older friend of mine mentioned that they played D&D with a mish-mash of different, small manuals they had handy.)

I'd classify that as a reason to need all the rules GURPS has.

@Aaron der Schaedel Hey, no disrespect. We all love your voice, at least I do! ❤️ Someday, I would love to see if a video of you and MatPat would blow up, and blow up the gurps scene too! 🤩
