Easter egg hunts in Texas sometimes have to be indoors due to weather: too cold or too wet. I remember having various pastel stained fingers from eggs that were hidden in rain-soaked grass and shrubbery. But I still get fond memories when I see a box of Paas. The smell of vinegar, the dye tablets, bending the little copper wire egg dipper, punching out the holes on the back of the box for the drying rack....simple fun for parents and kids to share. 🗿🥚

Nailed it! Our family had a neat variation that was introduces by a great-great grandmother who had come from England. The raw eggs had the small end broken off and then were washed and dyed. Then they were filled with candy and had a plug of Easter grass stuffed in the top. I was 10 before I realized that we did it differently. One of the cousins was diabetic so we put peanuts in the shell for him and then we would have this great pouring of candy afterwards where we traded his candy for our peanuts. My mom always felt sorry for him so the first year that they came out with sugarless candy she bought some to put in the eggs we brought to Easter. They were wrapped different than other candies. She was sure we knew that those were all for the cousin. He was so amazed but his mothers face is burned in my memory. She was astonished. She didn't think much of my mom and was astounded at my mom's caring.
