The face pull is excellent! Use a band so you don't grip it with your hands, it will isolate the rear delt. If you hold the rope you are much more likely to also work the biceps, something you don't want to do!

@@Sol-01 posterior = rear which is exactly what this video disproves.. reverse flies barely tax them as to the trapezius and rhomboids these only activate when you don't keep your torso square so keep that torso square and you're golden when it comes to rear delts

@@Sol-01 hey yeah so i was already talking inclined thing is.. how i understand it the reverse flies hit much more rhomboids and some mid/low trapezius yet only very little posterior deltoid. so if you really want to focus purely on the posterior deltoid (which this video is about) then reverse flies isn't really gonna do it because the trap and rhomboids added together are automatically going to take over without you noticing. a lot of people have never even felt their deltoids even once during workouts so if you don't know what feeling you're looking for then you're going to think you're training them but alas it is mostly traps and rhomboids. so in this video he shows us how to purely focus on the deltoid so you will actually get acquainted with it. i tried it and i can tell you i never knew this muscle before. never isolated it like this.

I might be mistaking what external rotation means but the face pulls that I do are essentially W raises but standing with cables. I'd imagine they offer more external rotation if what that means is your hands rotate out towards your back

There's nothing wrong with reverse flys. Jeff is just saying that the reverse fly isn't the best exercise for specifically training the rear delt as hard as it could be trained.

You gotta make sure Jessie films you from the side and from the back on things like this. When it's filmed at an angle like this it's hard to really see the exact movement we should be using.

Well.. I guess the side lateral raise has to share its place at the top of my favorite shoulder exercises with this one now. My rear delts used to be the part of my shoulder that was developed the least, despite me training it in every shoulder training.. now they are obe of my strengths and my front delts are the worst..

HLG Forever 87 I'm not a keyboard ranger by any means I made the joke sadly a day after it was all said and done I have a darker sense of humor this isn't to say I am not sad for his family I am 6 kids leaving behind I am a family man but my humor comes from my lack of feelings given that my former job was being a grunt in the military and being deployed you kind of get numb to things in any case sry to have offended you

HLG Forever 87 that's because they're are a lot of young immature kids who don't know how to have an intelligent conversation or discussion that doesn't revolve around feelings over the internet in any case don't always judge a book by the cover or a comment in this case happy lifting

After Jeff has drawn on himself with the muscle markers, he goes off camera and draws on the opposite muscle to avoid imbalances.

I always train Rear-delts on my “pull days” as a starter so that I’ll continue hitting them indirectly in my back workout. 💪

Feel like you get more of a burn cuz the gravity weighting down on you in this position. I can never feel my last when doing facepulls maybe it’s just me

@@No1reallydies no a face pull hits a different angle. In this exercise u try to pull past ur chest. While doing a facepull you try to pull past your face.

I did this Rear Delt as a finisher today and I have to say; WOW! It has been about 6 hours after my workout and I think I hit muscle fiber that never got worked before. This is a new addition to a new workout routine I'm building next week. Thanks!

🙄 sigh...* This guy says "do crunches if you want a flat belly..." Then that guy says "Doing crunches won't give you a flat belly!".. then some other guy says "do this if you want good pecs!..." Then another guy says "no! don't do those, those will just chest injuries!..." then some dude says "Do reverse flies if you want to build and strengthen your rear delts..." then the next guy says "DON'T do reverse flies!!" ... being new to all of this, I'm' realizing that it's getting more and more frustrating to know what's right and what's wrong ... who to listen to and who to avoid. 🤷♂🤦♂

The bonus with Jeff is he goes into detail with the muscle itself and shows you what happens. Not just “do this to build it”. He also does things from a functionality standpoint, especially for people with injuries and training for recovery

Your "muscle marker" videos remind me of when "muscle and fitness" magazine had a segment called "kinesiology " They really help me understand what's going on.

This reminds me of the time a couple of friends and I attended a local gym. One of my friends were doing rear felt flyes after I had shown them how to do the exercise. Mid set, the classical gym bro comes along and taps him on the shoulder and says (very loudly too!) "Mate you're not doing it right, you gotta do it like this" as he takes the Dumbbells and starts flailing his arms around like a spastic octopus. My other friends were on the cardio machines trying not to laugh their asses off! After the trainee attempts the new exercise our helpful gym bro has just demonstrated, he pokes him on the chest and says (again pretty loud) "You know what mate? I reckon you should go a little heavier" and he grabs a pair of Dumbbells two times heavier and hands them over to my friend. The guy gives him a nod and my friend completes another set with terrible form, using momentum to get the Dumbbells only half way through the movement.

That first exercise feels great and it's much easier for me to keep the rear delts locked in on the movement than some other rear delt exercises

My rear delts aren’t growing. I think it because I’m using high weights and not really feeling anything as other muscles come into play... please help me and provide advice on how to gain muscle on the rear delts.

Don't overwork them, u already hitting them in the back workout. Make sure to recover enough
