In this article, we will discuss a patient's recovery story from post-concussion syndrome. Ruth had a slip and fall accident inside her shower. She found herself with her feet In the air and her entire fall was broken with her head. Following this injury, she developed a laundry list of symptoms the worst of which was cognitive problems. Anyone who has suffered from severe cognitive problems knows how limiting they can be at work, socializing, with relationships, and basic every day human interactions. Ruth also suffered from vertigo, neck pain, and had difficulty forming sentences and finding words. She also found after the injury that her energy was far less than normal which is very common following a concussion. Her overall ability to function normally in life was severely reduced and as she states in the embedded video she had to downsize her life just to stay afloat.
Ruth became worried, and as a result, she started to discuss her health problems with close friends. She looked into receiving care but did not want to go to a conventional doctor because she knew that that would end putting her on medications. Ruth opted for the natural route after her medical tests were cleared for serious life-threatening health problems.
Luckily after suffering for about six weeks, Ruth was referred to our Los Angeles based Blair upper cervical upper healthcare office. Over the past 18 years, we have taken care of over well over 100 post-concussion syndrome patients. We have found that they are not overnight miracles however with care and time they can make full recoveries. We have found that post-concussion syndrome takes time to heal but for those who will stick it out they will recover.
Like all cases that end up in our office, we took a complete history and neurological examination and found that Ruth had her atlas vertebra and third cervical vertebra misaligned. We then took a CBCT image to determine exactly how her atlas and third cervical vertebra had misaligned from its normal position. The information gleaned from the Cbct is then used to make a precise upper cervical correction. As Ruth stated in the embedded video she came to our office twice a week for several months and then weekly thereafter. Like most post-concussion syndrome patients, her recovery was not overnight. However as the months went by her vertigo started to clear, her cognitive function improved, and as Ruth stated in the video, she now feels 75% back to her old health status.

What Exactly Does a Blair Upper Cervical Doctor Do?
Blair Upper Cervical doctors are specially trained to locate spinal misalignments in the upper cervical spine and correct them. Spinal misalignment is located by running a battery of neurological tests that locate the spinal segments that have been injured and misaligned by a prior neck injury.
Once located, precision imaging in the form of digital x-ray or cone-beam computed tomography (Cbct) is used to precisely determine which joint has misaligned and the angulation of the misaligned joint. Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore imaging is used to uncover the blueprint to be used to correct each patient’s individual misalignment pattern.
Once this information is gleaned, a gentle, light correction is made without twisting, popping, or pulling. The patient is then monitored over time to ensure that the correction is holding. If the testing indicates the need for another correction, then it is performed. However, the goal of Blair Upper Cervical Care is for the patient to stay in “adjustment”.
It isn’t the correction that produces healing. It is the removal of nerve irritation and the adjustment “holding” in its normal position that allows the body to function better and proceed through a healing process. This is how Blair Chiropractic treatment can often help remove the underlying cause of many who suffer from Vertigo, dizziness, neck pain, headaches and other chronic health problems by supporting the body in healing itself.
