I rode for decades, since the 1960’s, at 75yo my stress relief is our 2023 C8 HTC Corvette. It is very fast, comfortable, and the best vehicle I have ever driven or rode. I do sometimes miss my many motorcycles even though one almost killed me riding up in Wisconsin, not my fault.

I had a 1983 V-45 Sabre . Loved it. I wish Honda would bring back The magna or Sabre in the 800 or 1300 V-4 engines. That’s what they did back then. Not into the parallel twin Rebel 500 or 1100.

Oh this was THE bike to have back then! Unfortunately, I was in the military and couldn’t afford one! 😂

Those V4s were delicious! I almost bought a VFR of that era because I remembered it so fondly, that engine note! But it had flaked cams. I made them open it up, I paid the money, and didn't buy.

Good idea to wait for a good one 👍

@TravisDoesGames it was a different time. I was too young to afford major repairs. Paid to open the engine and take pics. Today, would have bought it. 1800 for a Honda VFR500. What a machine it was.

Awe man that sucks. How much do you think it would have cost to replace them? But there was probably more going on than you could see. I see them for sale every now and then on fb marketplace. Don’t know how much you could trust that though either.

@Kornholeeoo well. This was around 2002. Not easy to find parts like today and new cams for an 84 Honda VFR 500 was just not happening. Bike was 1800 dollars. Looked immaculate. I was heartbroken. The fit and finish and solidity and rideability and that SOUND was glorious (friend had one and I borrowed it a lot). (It's ok, I just bought a brand new SV650. Heart is mended and then some).

The only downer of the sabre were the shite camshafts. I went through two factory paid replacements but it didn't make any difference. Aside from that, was an awesome standard.

Man ive been waiting weeks for the holiday to have some time on the bike. Then woke up sat morning and put my back out. Dont trust it enough to even sit down on the bike at the moment. Enjoy the ride and stay safe out there.
