0:00 - Preparazione del Mastice e Trementina
0:11 - !!ATTENZIONE!!
13:00 - Dopo l'aggiunta dell'Essenza persa - Rapporto Mastice:Essenza 1:2 - Concentrazione 33%
13:08 - Aggiunti 25g di Essenza di Trementina - Rapporto Mastice:Essenza 1:3 - Concentrazione 25%
13:17 - Filtraggio in carta filtro

0:00 - Preparation of the Mastic and Turpentine refractive ground
0:11 - !!ATTENTION!! To prevent the risks associated with the vapors of toxic and flammable solvents, it is recommended to carry out cooking operations in well-ventilated environments (possibly outdoors) carefully avoiding breathing the vapors. Use adequate respiratory, hand and body protection. Keep fire extinguishing systems (fire extinguisher, wet blanket, etc.) handy. To further minimize risks, it is advisable to cook small quantities at a time.
0:26 - Mastic and turpentine is a refractive ground useful for assisting the insulation of wood and for enhancing its natural brightness and brilliance.
Recipe:
Raw Greek Mastic 25g - Turpentine essence 50g
Resin:essence ratio 1:2 (33% concentration).
After cooking, add 25g of turpentine essence bringing the dilution to a resin:essence ratio of 1:3 (1 part of Mastic and 3 parts of Essence, concentration of 25%) ideal for the application
1:08 - Procedure: Chop up the mastic, place it in a 100ml beaker, and wet it with a little turpentine essence to facilitate melting. Heat it on the electric hotplate, stirring occasionally until it is completely melted, keeping it at a temperature between 155° and 165°C for 15 minutes, until there is a clear reduction in the foam. Remove it from the hotplate and let the temperature lower to 110°/120°C
7:28 - At the same time heat the turpentine essence to 110°/120°. When the temperature of the mastic and the turpentine essence is equal, gradually pour the essence into the mastic, stirring after each addition. Once all the turpentine essence has been poured in, raise the temperature to 140° (formation of small moving bubbles), remove it from the hotplate and let it cool.
12:40 - Once cooled, add the turpentine essence lost through evaporation during cooking. Dilute further with another 25g of turpentine essence to bring the resin:essence ratio to 1:3 (25% concentration), ideal for the application. Filter through quick filter paper, or leave to decant for a few days until the liquid is perfectly clear.
13:00 - After adding the lost Essence - Mastic:Essence ratio 1:2 - Concentration 33%
13:08 - Added 25g of Turpentine Essence - Mastic:Essence ratio 1:3 - Concentration 25%
13:17 - Filtering with filter paper
