Hiya AB. Not that I expect you to read this or anything, but I feel compelled to tell you how much of an influence you have been to me as a cook. All my life, I've been one of those "empirical evidence or it didn't happen" kind of guys. I'm very much science minded and love doing experiments so much that my son had already proven the Earth's circumference before 2nd grade science class, earning him the enviable "stop talking just because you've already done this experiment and know the outcome" disciplinary action. Essentially, before I found you (AB), my experience with cooking was "follow the instructions and you'll get (X) result". To a science minded individual, I'm sure you can understand why this didn't really catch my interest. I was able to produce reasonably good dishes, but I had nothing original in my repertoire. It wasn't until I saw "Good Eats" that I was able to connect the science with the food! Once you gave me a foundation, I was able to parlay that knowledge into running the absolutely most prestigious kitchen in the world (IE: "cooking for my wife") and I can't express how appreciative I am to you for opening my eyes to the logic behind cooking. It's been many years since you first caught my attention on "Good Eats". It's less years since I watched you sabotage people on Cutthroat Kitchen but, even with the ridiculous sabotages, I generally learned something!. I'm essentially writing this in appreciation of your approach of "cooking isn't an art, it's a science with artistic components". I don't have an artistic bone in my body (literally and figuratively) but, through your influence, I am able to express my "artistic" nature by adhering to logical processes scientific principles. In other words, thank you, AB. Thank you for making cooking fun for the people who (generally) have far too little fun in their lives. Thank you for explaining why a procedure (or a process) is necessary with this ingredient and how it differs when doing the same procedure with different ingredients. Basically, thank you for making cooking something quantitative instead of (seemingly) instinctual. I thank you. My wife thanks you. My son thanks you (and has followed my example and become a rather accomplished chef to his wife as well). My family, friends, and employees thank you. Once again, and from the bottom of my figurative heart, I thank you for making cooking a pleasure instead of a chore.

QQ always brightens my day! I made Alton's Vesper Martini variant; good but personally I prefer a traditional dry gin martini, or one made with Cocchi instead of vermouth. Love the caper berry in either type of martini! Also, I hope you share your revised "Peter and the Wolf" narration after the performance. I imagine the wolf roasting the duck with a crispy skin, which would make it that much creepier when you hear the duck quacking in the wolf's stomach at the end. Wish I lived closer to Athens GA. Cheers!

Great job on the mashup recipe. It was fun to see what you came up with. We love Blue Apron for so many reasons. It lets us try different foods without committing to buying ingredients that we won't use again. Also, my Mom is 85 and it's too much for her to cook sometimes but she loves that everything is portioned out and ready to cook. She doesn't go grocery shopping anymore but likes to pick the meals that she would like to try. And she can choose how many servings so she doesn't have a ton of leftovers. Also, all the recipes are on their site so if you really like a recipe, you can look it up again and buy the ingredients yourself. The king trumpet mushroom steamed buns with miso butter and is one of our favorites. We order mostly Asian meals. Have a good time on your tour!

This episode reminded me of the 'game show' one you did around the start, where you picked ingredients from a box that Elizabeth picked for you, blind folded, and you had to make a meal of it. Hilarious! I don't know what the mexican seasoning was, but the meal sure looked yummy! Congrats on the hot sauce too. I am still waiting to find out what's happening with some medical stuff and whether or not I can drive, but hoping to still get myself a ticket to the Lynn show!
