The Guatemala bit made me laugh. I spent six months in Guatemala in 2018, and was there when Fuego (one of the active volcanos there) erupted. It was scary at the time, but I can laugh about it now, at least in regards to my experience there. Cleaning up the ash afterwards was a big pain and it made us sick. I could spend all day ranting about copyright but the main problem is that patenting is a speculator market. You patent or copyright something in the hopes that a bunch of people will want it someday and only you will be able to sell it. Only problem is, no one knows what future people will want so they hoard it indefinitely. Some video game has been refused a sequel or a re-release because someone in a business suit thinks that a profitable return for selling the product hasn't arrived yet. This is the case for every game franchise except Super Monkey Ball. Sega and the creator of Super Monkey Ball hate Super Monkey Ball and they want it to burn in hell.
@danielgordon8308
3 жыл бұрын
One of the big issues with this is that a lot of games rely on licensed software (think havok) or sometimes paid assets, so if they did release it would be illegal. They would basically have to strip out all the third party content or get approval from every third party. This is also assuming they still have the source code, and that they are the sole owner of the IP. Something like Rare’s Goldeneye has so many companies from Nintendo, to Microsoft to the Goldeneye copyright holders involved it would be a mess.

They were having trouble developing this for N64 because they were trying to do what the console wasn't meant for - 2D sprite games. Those were Saturn's specialty but N64 was the opposite, it sucks at sprites and it's entirely streamlined for full 3D. That's why there were so few sprite based games on N64 and so many on Saturn, most developers were leaning into the strengths of each system while trying to avoid dealing with their weaknesses. When Saturn is said to have an extremely difficult architecture it's true but it's doubly so for 3D games, making sprite games for it provided a lot more flexibility than neither PlayStation or N64 had, which is why 2D games always looked best on Saturn in the 5th generation of consoles.

Joseph is an easy one to explain and I personally like his content. Rikafag is only called rikafag because his avatar is of a character from a horribly written and paced visual novel and he refuses to give his channel a name because "I only want my videos to be taken at face value and not because it's made by a person". You can find him by his only good video he ever made "why the grey jedi failed". Both rubbing me the wrong way because ever since the first few "hows your youtube channel doing?" threads it was obvious one or the other would make start a new thread with their already wildly popular videos.
@RunningShine
4 жыл бұрын
Those threads were cool when I was lurking them; I remember going on one and posting the THUG video slightly after it came out on a whim thinking I might get some feedback. People on /v/ can be harsh but I appreciate how direct they are with criticism. I really wasn’t expecting the amount of praise that it got and I appreciate guys like you who have stuck around. I felt like it was a good setup to have all the KZitem stuff in one thread like that because it contained it in one place, I definitely prefer it to having an otherwise good thread derailed and ruined by YT links. But from what you’re posting, it seems like the threads started getting messed up by guys trying to make it all about themselves, which seems like an issue a lot of generals end up having as time goes on.

Really hope you return one day. You’re the only comedy review channel that actually makes me laugh.
