Not only has Pete gone through and survived a ton of interesting and wacky experiences, the way he tells these stories and even crack jokes in between is phenomenal. This easily could have been a 4 hour trash taste episode and I wouldn't even notice.

It was so enjoyable I was actually disappointed when I got to the end. Thanks for having him on! I hope he can come back sometime ❤

As one of your oldest fans, not related to y'all, I have enjoyed Pete's story as it seemed all of you did. So I figured you might enjoy my story of 10+ years earlier. I graduated Uni in 1991; Japanese minor; 4 years of Japanese. Got a salaryman job with what is now Kyocera (Then Mita) that started Jan 1992. I had home stayed in Kobe summer 89. Like Pete, I had no visa and was held at airport until Mita came to get me. Fun. They took me to Mita dorm 1.5 hour train from HQ near the castle. The dorm was horrible, but area beautiful and I was so far out, I'd get a seat on train every day 😊 Anyway, I was a salaryman for 1.5 years. They never let me do anything, so eventually I left to teach. I had move to foreigner dorm in the city which was great. My friends got me in with Nova English school and I was there for a year and a half. Teaching there is actually pretty good; not the horror show some experience. You would have 6/7 lessons (1hr) and one hour free conversation. You had a textbook based on levels and your 3 students could be anywhere from 10 to 80. I luckily taught at Namba, so I was walking distance from Dotonbori. Tip: Once I got my bicycle, everything was so much better. I laughed at Pete not having a phone. We didn't even have Internet 😊. I literally had to wait 3 days for newspaper to get sports scores. My dorm was one room tatami, with mini Genkan/kitchen. But enough room for 25" Big Box TV and superfamicon. Floor bathroom with Japanese toilets and 100 yen for warm water shower. Floor mates with people all over the world. As I spoke Japanese, Everytime the phone rang, there could be a knock on my door to translate 😂 If ya wanna know what it looked like, go to Chris's studio. THAT WAS MY EXACT PHONE 😮😮😮 And yes, I lived through the Denki town era of Osaka in the emergence of the tech world. PCs were starting, giant game centers everywhere, famicin games new and used all over. I'd spend day after day wondering around finding cool Japanese games we would play back at Orange House. Even beat one Zelda in Japanese. And y'all feel old😢. Thanks for all you do cuz it's amazing to relive my time in Japan vicariously thru you.
