The WPATH peaks and the Cass Report being released within little more than a month of each other should honestly make even the most stout pro-trans campaigners hesitate for a sec, like you can’t read all this and not come to the conclusion that it is .. a _bit_ much in the evidence department- especially when it comes to kids. I’ve written to organizations and media outlets in my country - nothing: absolute radio silence, by everyone. It’s not a thing to be talked about. I’m _stunned_ by the lack of honesty and courage - STUNNED!

Regarding the 1% stat, I recently got into a Twitter argument with someone about that who linked a meta-analysis with a 1% regret rate for bottom surgery… and 30% of patients lost the ability to orgasm. You cannot tell me that 30% of people can’t orgasm now and don’t regret surgery. Way too fishy. For anyone interested, the analysis is titled “Complications and Patient-Reported Outcomes in Male-to-Female Vaginoplasty-Where We Are Today: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”

It's just not a remotely credible figure. Appendectomy is only ever carried out when you're at risk of almost certain perotinitis and death, and it has a regret rate well above 1%. In what world does it seem plausible that a much more complex surgery with many more and much worse complications should lead to less regret than that appendectomy that literally saved your life? "Trans" means "not." "Trans science" is not science. "Trans medicine" is not medicine. "Trans rights" are not rights.

they can't bring themselves to admit they made a mistake. Many detransitioners talk about this. They also talked about the backlash and threats they receive from the trans community if they say anything negative about their transition.

Two issues: 1. If they were transitioned early they mayn't know what an orgasm is, and 2. you can't consent to losing what you haven't experienced. Also, I love (eyeroll) the way activists use self-report data CONSTANTLY (the least reliable type of data), but then say that well-designed quantitative research that shows an outcome they don't like has no value because it wasn't double-blind.

@MarthaAnthony I believe if it is to be covered under your insurance, you need a referral. My neurologist didn't believe me, going as far as saying I was making up the pain for attention. I had headaches every day for 14 years. The intensity changed between pain that was easily ignored for a few hours at a time to I can't move because every step causes the headache to intensify. I found a neurologist who listened and got medication that brought my headaches down to 3 or 4 times a week. Then my PCP recommended a supplement, and now I'm down to 2 or 3 headaches a week. This is still high by migraine standards, but at least I'm not suffering for the majority of the week. Also, because my headaches don't have the same intensity every day, I have been given an additional pain reliver to take should the headaches be so bad I can't move without causing myself pain. Which for me happens about 2 or 3 times a month. I got through my first 14 years by abusing over the counter medication. I would take double or triple the dose to get the headaches to go away. I do realize I have probably caused serious damage to my liver by doing this. But it was the only way I could function at the time.

I do agree that the extent and length of lockdowns possibly nay probably caused more harm than good. I'm in America, and transkids has been the issue for me to try to be active about. Because I was a kid who wanted to be a boy in elementary age, and once puberty hit I hated my body so much. In the 1990s the ideal shape for women and teens was heroine sheek. My mother and sister fit this athsetic, but I was curvy and my muscles were starting to look leaner and softer. I also had a lot of internalized homophobia. I was suicidal and attempted three times. I ended up in therapy and under a phycatrist care for HS and college. They helped me stableize, I was bi-polar 1 with phycosis and my sexuality was bisexual. There is no doubt in my mind if I was a teen in the last 5 years I would have transitioned. If I was told all the problems in my life could be solved just by changing my sex , something I had been asking about since elementary school I would have taken it. .... then I probably wouldn't have made it to graduate college. Because transition would not have done anything about my bi-polar, and eventually a suicide attempt would have been successful.

Which is just shocking, and the comment section was just absurd as well. I want to add something about the Tickle vs.Giggle case. Tickle sues for a 200.000 AUD compensation. Unfortunately he has the legal documents that prove him to be a woman (even the birth certificate is changed). I don't think the judge can do anything else than judge in Tickles favor and the case has to be passed on to a higher court. The only chance Salls (and with her all australian women) has, is the fact that Australia has signed an UN convention about equality for women/improving womens rights (CEDAW). So the Australians laws that say men can be women might be a breach of this contract. I am very interested in the verdict. Especially because the government in my country (Germany) has just last week passed a law that allows everybody to legally change their sex (including the birth certificate) once a year by simple declaration. For children (up to age 13) the parents can do this, from the age of 14 the child can do it themselves. In case of opposing parents a youth court can overrule the parents. I hope that people in the german medical system take note of the Cass report before they start making the same mistakes as the NHS.

That is insane about Germany! What has the reaction been to this? Has it caused controversy? It’s chilling that Sall may lose this case because of an extremely flawed law.

Tickle v Giggle. Tickle may have legal documentation, but for the sake of entrance to a womans` only app, Giggle has reason to suspect that Tickle is not...enough, justifiable reason. If you follow this logic, Tickle can now go to a gyno and if treatment is refused, they can sue them..because they are` legally` a woman. However, they are not a `woman` physically, biologically, medically etc...and it`s all obviously provable that Tickle is not a woman in those terms.

Veterinary surgeon here. Have some understanding of endocrinology, immunology, and infectious disease....also value evidence based reality. Also value admitting that we don't know everything. I was working throughout the lockdown. Lockdown was awful. People suddenly had fewer distractions, were suddenly thrown on their own resources. But speaking as someone who understands virology, and infectious disease, better than most, we don't know the biology of SARS-Covid19. We don't know the long term effects, so precautionary approach is not unreasonable. You are complaining about righteous covid cautious people, pain in the arse, but so are the " it's just a cold " crowd. We don't have all the longitudinal data.... I do know that feline coronavirus mutated in the 1960s, it used to simply cause diarrhoea, no harm done, but now will, in an unfortunate marriage of host and parasite, not yet fully understood, cause an out of control, lethal immune response...as I say, I worked through lockdown. I think a lot of the most genetically susceptible hosts died. ( people) But Covid19 has not gone away, it's a novel virus, doing it's own ineffable thing. Without considering our opinions, emotions, or biases. And that we conflate emotions with reality. Re sex, gender ( AAAAARGH ) there is a scientific evidence base. The physiological effects of hormones are quite well understood. The physiology of reproduction ,and genetics is quite well understood. The immune system, and it's interaction with infectious disease, and the natural history of pathogens far less so. I mask, I don't bang on about it. It kept me infection free during the 1st lockdown, and Russian roulette is a game that holds no appeal for me. Looking, and attempting to discern reality is up to the individual, and requires thought, analysis, and honesty. Not politics, bias, and emotions.

Double-blind means that the experimenters/ researchers don't know what the participants got either. In this way, they can't bring their (unconcious) bias. It would be very hard to have an observational clinical trial of kids with puberty blockers and surgery, and kids without, that was completely double blind as they could look/sound very different. You would have to have survey data or an ingeniously-designed experiment to avoid it. So it's easy to criticise, hard to fix.
@greenaum
9 күн бұрын
It would be impossible, as well as inappropriate, to do a double-blind test on people like this, particularly since it would take decades. On that scale you'd find it pretty obvious which people were on hormones and which weren't. It's just not that kind of problem. People insisting on double-blind tests in this case are bullshitting and don't know the first thing about the "science" they're trying to co-opt.

I do think there are potential candidates for puberty blockers in the supremely rare case of precocious puberty where like an 6y child is going through puberty. And it's a serious weigh up, of trying to pause puberty until a more reasonable age. Both a precocious puberty has long-term consequences and the puberty blockers which physicians and parents weigh up together with full knowledge of these pros and cons. There are the exceptions to the rule, but this would be an example of an extreme case.

Just thought of something the Cass Review, or any similarly minded report, could do to make their case: compare the rise of trans referrals/surgeries etc. to other trends such as dermal fillers, body contouring, eating disorders, etc. that all have increased since the advent of social media in the mid 2010s. I think if you made the case that this is simply one of dozens of trends that have risen drastically since social media or TikTok became a thing, it would recontextualize it and strip its ideology of the toxic empathy that it uses to spread. I would genuinely be curious to see how close those trend lines are to the trans trend lines.

Yeah, it's similar to the correlation between female adolescent suicide/self-harm since 2010. They show it in the social dilemma doc. The report was a bit too neutral though in my opinion. It doesn't introduce any theories/speculation like this as it would make it more politically charged. Its tone is very open-minded, as though perhaps puberty blockers will be a good thing after they are put through proper trials. People described her tone as a hostage to the mob ha. Overall, I am happy with it though, good progress.

@@JackxJewellthat’s funny because I was listening to Vaush’s take-and some other progressives-and they said it reads like a conservative propaganda document. I haven’t actually gone through and read it myself. I was still trying to get myself to open up the WPATH doc, and the 15-year follow up doc… 😆

@@KevinZimmerman360 The CASS Report is a LOT more inspiring and hopeful than WPATH files ha. It is all factual and neutral in tone. Of course Vaush would say that. He has been campaigning for child abuse for years. I've just read the exec summary (around 50 pages summing up all the findings and recommendations)

It feels like the comedy that got banned (ie Little Britain) is now just getting played out in real life…I can’t help thinking that some of these mask videos are just comedians taking the piss?!! 😂

Not sure why you don't know about the many other gay men in the UK who are talking about the reality of the TQ cult. There are a lot. Clive Simpson and Dennis Kavanagh (Queens Speech), Mr Menno and Barry Wall are all worth listening to.

I was speaking from a content creator/KZitem POV. But yes Mr Menno for sure. I haven't come across any gays that aren't completely anti-trans though. Andrew Doyle maybe, but he is a journalist.

@@JackxJewell Fair enough if you want to want to try to preserve the distinction between "nice trans" while ditching "nasty trans". A lot of us started from that position a decade or more ago. Very few of us are there now. I'd still suggest checking out Queens Speech on YT. Clive knows the health service and Dennis knows the law. Barry (Edijester on YT) is probably closer to your politics than mine.

@@henryblunt8503 Yeah sure, I'll check it out. I undoubtably agree there are lots of TRAs who are horrible. But there are also lots of vulnerable trans people who have been swept up in certain ways, or others like Buck/Blaire who argue all the same talking points as myself. It upsets me when I see people being so horrible to them, which I actually see as true transphobia. They are human and have their own story. I think if we try to throw them under the bus, we have a far less chance on protecting women's rights and reaching a peaceful solution.

Okay, but the CASS report's "research" is a lot of them going "this study is nitpicking and biased" and then they didn't show or say anything prove their own point while postering neutrality. The issue is that there is are hundreds of studies and meda analysis that consist of even more studies that show gender affirming care is significantly beneficial. I'm just curious why this one meda analysis report somehow cancels out the large majority of actual research? Btw Cass herself a day after the release of the report, she "cautioned" the banning actual gay conversation therapy. So it seems that she so supports the continuation of actually gay conversation therapy while wanting to limit the objectively good parts if gender affirming care.

If you read the report, you will see why studies of ‘low quality’ were excluded. Studies must pass a standard in medicine to be clinically significant and sound. And the ban she cautions, as at the moment, they are not separating homosexuality with gender identity. I don’t support this ban either, as it would make it very hard for clinicians to challenge claimed gender identities and explore underlying factors.

Ok i lovee your reactions, but can we address the part where people pushing masks saying _"it keeps me safe, my family safe and i cant believe people wont see how this is about saving lives"_ is the same talking points you hear for pro-firearms.🙃🫢😂🤣 Also, Birdie is literally more unhinged and aggro the more T she uses... and these stories about the doctors office is not happening. They literally train in mask wearing for med school. The patient not given pain meds screams painkiller dependancy to me
