Tim Gorman on piano. Perfect tone, nuance; tasty. Arguably the best accompanist to tour with the Who.

I had to check the comments for Kenney Jones accolades - gratefully, I found some. He is on top of his game here (as with the rest of the boys). This is just a tremendous version of Drownnnned.

I've seen them over 100 times and this is without a doubt the best version of drowned I have ever seen. PT's jumping ending is too much. The greatest rock and roll band in the world is an understatement. LONG LIVE DA WHO!!!!!!!!!!!

Kenny Jones fantastic. His work with The Small Faces and Faces is top notch. Listen to The Rolling Stones ‘It’s only Rock N Roll…’. That’s Kenny Jones. His only “crime” is that he wasn’t Keith Moon.

This song was a revelation, from the somewhat downbeat track on Quadrophenia sung by Roger to this electrifying, rocking version sung by Pete. It is over 8 minutes long but it could have lasted forever. The sound is great on this version; the purists may cringe, but I love the drumming as well - it takes it up to an 11.

Finally, this concert is getting it's due. If 'wgfa' remasters this whole concert, I'd buy it!

They cut out Pete's comment after announcing the next song would be 'Drownnned': "...you're such an orderly crowd it doesn't seem quite appropriate."

There have always been certain songs that Pete would put a little extra into. This has always been one of them. I've never heard a bad version of "Drowned", but this one is one of, if not the best. Which is funny, since most of the songs on this tour were watered down versions.

I also think Kenny Jones was terribly underrated. This happens when a beloved son of anything and especially rock and roll dies. The person to replace them has huge shoes to fill and a rabid fanbase to please. If Kenny were so bad why is the 1979 tour one of the greatest WHO tours ever and the 1982 tour of course?? Why? Because Kenny Jones was one heck of a drummer bar none. I mean Moon was great but his PR stunts made him loved more than the rest of the WHO. A wild man. It's called showmanship. Basically without his drumming talent he'd have been a street drunk. Let's call a spade a spade. Nothing that Zak nor Kenny couldn't handle and as Pete said at Nissan in 2000 without half the problems Moon caused. Kinda blunt then that's Pete for ya!

Kenney IS a great drummer. And I’m using the present tense. He just wrote a book. And not just on the drumming, but on life.

Jesus Christ! Any questions guys? That Alembic ringing on those low plucks. And Pete's solos are some of the best, he is really leaning into it......just awesome boys. Thanks for everything John!

I've been trying to figure out the key to his tone for years. It's come down to the neck on that bass being a major portion of it. I own Alembics, we know his was custom built, Alembic say's they didn't keep records/specs on his bass. Now that's either straight up or bullshit. Bullshit being, Alembic has them and Entwistle wanted his bass to be the only so keep it quiet or I'm gone. If you are a musician, then you know where tone resides, in your fingers. Entwistle had large hands, I know, I shook it. His hand wrapped up around the neck of my Alembic twice. But his tone with that Alembic, the ability to get that growl with his low action, ("I like my action behind my frets".. J.E.) is something else. It's an enigma wrapped in a Rubiks cube.

Kenny to his credit kept the Who going. There are some who songs Kenny could play much better that Keith and even Zak. He did well to put up with Roger.
