Yankai's Peak isn't just "triangular sokoban", it's a consistent and intuitive ruleset that also incentivises "play with the pieces until something fits". The fact that each piece has six ways it can move and not three means there's so many ways for the puzzle to interact with itself.

If it had openly advertised itself as a Threes Roguelike, like it, y'know, *is*, I feel like it'd have a huge playerbase. People love both of those things.

Huh, I'd only ever heard of 2048 as the placeholder for this kind of "move a lot of things with one keystroke" type game. Consider my horizons broadened. Also, your new album is real good :3 Edit: played it a bit on the bus ride home. The singular movement rather than a slide is a bit simpler, but the need to combine 2s and 1s definitely makes it a more interesting game. I'm still terrible at it, but it's clearly not bad >:3

2048 came out a few months after Threes and was inspired by Threes. People who have played Threes often consider it to be the better game (I remember Totalbiscuit would talk about it sometimes on his podcast and complain about 2048 being more popular) but 2048 ended up being more well known because 2048 was available for free on multiple platforms and Threes was only available on phones as a paid app (at the time).

@@stevenpoche6988 Yeah, that seems to be the case. I do think the "sliding" is a fun improvement, but if you're the kind of person who enjoys puzzle games a lot I'd imagine 3s would be the far more fun game.

Kenny Sun's Kubrix is also worth a quick look. Not to spoil it *too* much, but there's a bit more to the game than it lets on, and it's hiding in plain sight. The way it uses ads is something I haven’t seen before, just don't be afraid to spend your hints. Judging by its leaderboards, almost nobody has even seen the more secret parts of it, out of the >300K people who have played it, at most ~70 have ever beaten it.

Hey, someone else who knows about Threes! And Twinfold. I know someone who has beaten the latter, so there's definitely something. (And the former, of course.) I'll probably come back to Twinfold one day, but for now I'm hardstuck on Threes with one (1) run to 6144.

I played this years ago, but decided to try it again based on this video. I've found that it is much more fun when you play aggressively for combining the pieces -- I managed to reach Quintillions this way, with the help of some good upgrade luck. If you get stuck with tiny numbers on the orange blocks, it may be worth it to simply reset.

Oh hey, I really like Twinfold. It has been a long time since I have played it, but I appreciate the minimalism of it. If you enjoy the game, I recommend checking out the wider genre. Twinfold is a roguelike, but I have also seen it described as an example of a “broughlike”, a roguelike subgenre inspired by the works of Michael Brough. Broughlikes often rely on having small playfields and central mechanics that embrace weirdness in pursuit of a wide set of interesting emergent options. Twinfold absolutely fits these qualities, and I redownload the app to check and sure enough, Michael Brough is listed in the credits. I love Broughlikes, and if you want more games that are weird and interesting like Twinfold, I recommend looking some of these up. There are of course the games of Brough. My favorite is Imbroglio, but Cinco Paus is probably a better starting point. From there there are the games of Jessie Venbrux, particularly Seven Scrolls. Thanks for shedding some light on Twinfold! I know you joked about nobody else seemingly knowing about this game, and it’s true that it’s way too obscure for the quality on display here, and I’m thankful you gave it some more attention.

One of my all time favorite games and one of the only go-to mobile titles when i need to pass time. I think my only real complaint against it beyond Float being a genuinely harmful power-up long term is that as the board gets more populated with no further abilities or enemy types to break things up, the less of a game there is left to engage with. I think having a single late-game passive ability to give you a larger "SP" capacity or get more "SP" from killing enemies would allow things to keep flowing without giving you too much power. Anyways my current high score is: 109,504,696,817,288 with no undo's or close-game cheesing. Looking forward to what your high score eventually becomes :)

Patricia i have noticed you seem to quite enjoy some of them puzzle games, there's this very niche indie title called Void Stranger that i really REALLY like, it has become my autistic adhd brain hyper fixation the last few months or so. It's a sakoban (hope i wrote it right) styled puzzle game with cryptic story elements and it's full of secrets, i find the story to be very well written and full of interesting characters, exploring the void to it's fullest to try and uncover all of it's secrets is way more fun and cool than what you would expect any video game secret to be, finding new tools to help you breeze through puzzles and finding out more stuff about the lore, it's crazy how deep the game goes considering it was developed by only a few people, i wish i could tell you more about it but it's one of those games that the least you know about it before jumping in the better an experience you will have, which for such a niche game with a very specific apeal just results in it probably being forever doomed to obscurity. I really wish more people gave it a shot and completed at least one playthrough of it, it's one of my favorite games ever. So yeah i hope you try it out if it interests you, if you do so please PLEASE let me know what you thought about it, you don't need to know go in depth about it just let me know if you enjoyed it, sorry if sound a bit repetitive or annoying i just kinda start rambling forever when im talking about something i really enjoy. Cheers

oh, i bought that on my phone like a year ago, it is interesting i think but i only ever play phone games at school so every time i look at it i feel dread. either way, I could only ever make it to the couple hundred thousand league. I think Miner Gun Builder is my personal underrated autism mobile game calling card, its like if idle games were good and had progression that felt like it meant anything. eedit: a couple billion, not a couple hundred thousand

Just that single brief allusion to the visual novel by this same dev got me extremely curious so I looked it up and, well, I think that's something I need in my life. Twinfold itself seems a wee bit out of my wheelhouse, albeit mechanically fascinating, but Tender is not.

Oh god, the stuff happening in the game confuses my brain so much, I can't make heads nor tails of it. And I am autistic as well, probably just a different kind of autistic that isn't built for this much micro management. It takes me time to understand even the basic things about this game
