Dorothy asked at 9:30 if the window washer cleaned or painted the buildings and John gave her a No which was a BIG mistake. She should have gotten a yes for the whole question and then figured out what she did.

My understanding from my "Sound of Music" DVD. On the making of the show. Oscar Hammerstein was very ill and died shortly after its release. After it was release a couple of more songs was suggested and they we're only written by Richard Rodgers. "I have confidence in me" and "I must have done something good."

As Arlene might have said, had she been there: "That's the most adorable horse shoe-er I've ever seen!" Paulette Goddard was well past her movie star prime when this aired, yet she looks and sounds delicious, and carries herself with such feline grace, one can see why she still had wealthy, powerful men eating out of the palm of her hand.

From what Rodgers and Hammerstein say about FLOWER DRUM SONG (the start of its second year on Broadway), the date of this show would have to be Sunday, 29 November 1959.

This show is very stimulating for the insightfulness of the panel and especially the moderator's carefully chosen (fair) attempts at illuminating the panels' path toward the answer . I say "attempts" in order to ameliorate the achieved results in relation to the desired effect of clarifying the Q&A process. I do enjoy Mr. Daly's vocabulary but at times he becomes an obscurantist and elitist by hitting the listener with the blackjack of his verbosity. Here is a quote from him-"The art of conversation lies not only in saying the right thing at the right time, but in leaving unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment". Physician heal thyself. I do love his mind of course and he is not here to respond to my slings and arrows. So let's give him an A for competence with a conditional A plus withheld for the possibly sustainable (yes, subjective) critique outlined above. Thank you Mr. Daly and panelists.

When John Charles Daly says "My last name is really Summerall" at 2:34, he was referring to New York Giants kicker Pat Summerall. Mr. Summerall played for the Giants from 1958 to 1961 and is probably better known today as a sportscaster. Later, at 2:44, Mr. Daly refers to Charlie Conerly, who was the Giants quarterback from 1948-1961. I was a Giants fan when Summerall and Conerly were playing, and watched the games on TV with my father.

First time I've seen Miss Goddard on this show. I have some of her movies. She was so hot looking in those Chaplin films. She looks good here too. (Sort of a Gloria Swanson look.)I must admit, her long pauses made me cringe and entering through that narrow curtain didn't help. I was pretty sure she got the Christmas tree answer, but didn't say it.

Sadly Margaret Sullavan would not live to do "Sweet Love Remembered" on Broadway, dying on January 1, 1960, a month after rehearsals began. The play closed out of New Haven following the death of Miss Sullavan.
