In a flexion addicted society, we need as much back strengthening as we can get. We spend most of our time in a rounded, hunched forward posture, creating shortness through the chest and weakness and often pain in the upper back. This posture compromises our breathing, digestion, nervous system, muscle function, joint mobility, and a whole lot more.
But we can gradually reverse this pattern by adding upper back strengthening techniques to our routines, and cutting back on flexion-based exercises such as crunches. Join me as I walk you through a progression of upper back exercises. If you make these a regular practice, you will find that your spine is straighter, your shoulders are relaxed, and neck, shoulder, or upper back pain is gone!
