Taz will be 10 years old this month! We rescued him as a puppy just a few months before Robert moved in with us so Taz has always known Robert. He’s used to dodging his wheelchair and walker and, even though he isn’t a service dog, he knows when Robert is not feeling well or having a seizure. He’s sat next to Robert when he’s had a fall and hangs out with him until we get him up.
They have a special bond.
Somewhere along the way, we started having Robert play fetch with Taz. Robert got some good arm exercise out of it and Taz got his play time in. We usually did this every morning before Day Program while waiting for the van but once Covid hit, Day Program went virtual. Our routine (like everyone’s during that time) got out of whack but eventually we picked up the playtime when we could. This video is from the first year of Covid. (PJs were standard attire those days.)
The time of day for fetch may change but the love between these two certainly doesn’t.
