They've always going to call someone else who's not available. On about 80% of my incident reports I would write, "significant delays in reaching the patient may have adversely affect the outcome of his situation". I continuously petitioned that the patient be brought down to us rather than us be brought up to them.

There's a real disconnect with a lot of folks in understanding how time passes in the real world, and how long mundane things take to happen. On most good days, your average citizen couldn't get to a fast food restaurant and get served fast food the the time it took EMS to show up on scene here. And I'll point out again, that I started the timer the second she hit the floor, assuming the call went out almost immediately. That is very rarely how it happens, though. In most cases the first call to EMS wouldn't even happen until almost the first 5 minutes had passed. Also, sir. Thank you for your service and sacrifice during your service. We're all better off because people like you choose to do the things you do.

They could have been a block away. I worked in some very rural counties and I’ve had calls take us about 30-45 minutes to get there because it’s out in BFE. My longest every to get to a patient was probably an hour at least. He took a swan dive after trying to go up or down a 200 foot waterfall. It had rained that day and it was in the mountains. That was a real bitch to do. I had to use a rope and harness to get back out. He was dead after we arrived.

Something that strikes me about Judge Stevens and a few others is that, once whatever judicial decision has been made, the sentencing language is both clear and unequivocal. As you would expect, but also delivered with rapid-fire, practiced familiarity. Stevens fold the specifics of the case into the complex language required with rapid, direct simplicity without referring to a script or other reference. Judge Stevens is the judge you want sitting to administer proper justice. Judge Stevens is not the judge you ever want to appear in front of if you’re guilty.

In our lower courts in Australia, most of the hearings are done by video link from their cell. Its quick and safe for everybody. A sentencing hearing is purely procedural, well after the trial. The guilt has been proven or an guilty admission accepted. No plea bargains. The judge does not go on a long recitation. This only gives an accused possible grounds to appeal. The full determination is released some months afterwards. He pronounces the sentence and its done. He already knows what the prosecution is seeking and 90% of the time goes along with it. He has read the victim impact statements by then as well. They are in the court record. The time for arguing and discussions are over. We tend to punish lower level crimes hard, like drug trafficking which get 10+years for even a small amount. High Range drink driving will get 5 years. Assault causing GBH, 10+ years. Murder gets 25 years to life. No early parole. White collar crimes are less. Crimes against the person, more. We don't jail people so much for financial crimes, specially if the amounts are recovered.

See? Karma arrives in many ways. She landed on her knees then her hands. I’m sure it hurt, but I doubt seriously.

When i worked on an ambulance, I hated courtroom calls. When you go through the metal detector, security would ask if you had any weapons...ummm, scalpel? Drugs that can stop your heart? Needles? Of course i do. Let me go help the patient please...

Well, as a retired EMT, I appreciate the timer and your BAMF comment. Yes. Yes, we are!

If I'm ever in a hairy emergency situation. I'm gonna hope there's an off duty EMT stuck in the situation with me.

She fell on her face in Court, in State custody. She was going to the ER even if she'd popped back up like a jack-in-the-box. How is this tuned into mystery or melodrama? It was the Court Officers who advised her to stay down and straight until transport arrived. Court wasn't flustered because intervention was precautionary.

That girl aint hurt, shes just wanting out! Ive seen fellow inmates throw themselves down stairs to get to go to the hospital. Fake labor, falling out. Faking mental, and all that jazz. Theres not much they wont do just to get that chance. So, girlllll, youre funny. Get on up now.

Well now, I guess she would rather spend an afternoon in a hospital instead of jail or maybe she's looking for a law suit so she has $$ when she gets out. She fell to her knees before face planting, Looks like she's claiming she can't get up/ move😆😴I hope there's a camera on the other side showing her (ahum) "fall".. It would be great if an update was possible!

Just as you don't give a child attention for a tantrum, Judge ignores her. She didn't get her way for release and in this court, John she won't have dramatics😂

Regardless of faking/ not faking, the response time is an absolute disgrace. I live in the countryside, with my particular locale often referred to as "the middle of nowhere", but the average response time for Police/ Fire/ Ambulance is 10 minutes.

Diving headlong into her homebase for a chunk of months; and yet she’s called “OUT!” The judge stands up for a victim who, because of the callous action of a driver, now has a compromised capacity to stand up and walk about at-will.
