Words cannot express how much I have learned and grown since I began my SARPE journey. It is crazy to think that at 45 years of age, I can breathe the best that I ever have in my life. The fact that since I began all of this my airway literally doubled in size and that I used to have the jaw of a small child and now I have that of an adult is crazy.

I cannot thank Dr. Frost and Dr. Nichols over at Frost Smiles for helping transform my smile and airway. It's truly remarkable to see what can be done when science and artwork come together. Before meeting these guys I had no idea this world even existed. Fast forward two years later and my understanding of nasal resistance, palate expansion, sleep apnea, and all things airway has become one of my biggest passions in life.
With my fatigue still being so bad even after doubling the size of my airway, I have decided to take my braces off early to see if I can get my jaws to realign and possibly do another tongue tie release to see if I can get my entire tongue up on my palate. Since I broke my jaw 16 years ago and they never had me do PT, I have been left with a canted jaw on one side of my jaw. All the muscles on that side are super tight and as a result my jaw does not track open, it's spun. As a result I can only open my jaw about 37mm which limited my tongue tie release because if I could open my jaw more he could have released more tie. As a result when I sleep I don't think I get all of the back of my tongue up on my jaw and have just as many respiratory arousals as I did back in 2019. I just did another Watchpat1 sleep test and my RDI and my AHI are literally identical.
I literally think it all comes back to getting my tongue all the way up on my palate. My goal is to try another device to decalcify the tight side and restore the freedom of movement in my jaw to see if I can't get myself out of the stuck pattern I'm in and then release my tongue further and see what happens. Although my smile looks good at this point, if you were to look at my face it looks like my left cheek is almost non-existent and my left eye sits higher than my right, with the right side of my face sitting slightly more forward than my left. This spin in my jaw can be felt throughout my entire body and my entire body feels twisted as a result. I'm hoping that a new device can help provide this last bit of change and allow my CFS to slowly melt away. 16 years of waking up tired and foggy every day is long enough!
