This one is excellent for what ails me. Will practice this one for sure.

I am so glad you are exploring some of these lessons. I have two movements that I encourge you to try. These may be even more appropriate for you. Now that you know the lines of the flower, Try Elbows to the Sky and see if you can find all *The Flower* lines in it. *A slow and un-cluttered teaching of Elbows to the Sky Unravel Hidden Tension of Stress, Worry, and Depression* 9m:18s On KZitem : kzitem.info/news/bejne/moGYuWSnf5qnepw *Elbows to the Sky, Ready for a good day? Hunched Posture Fix |* Elbows to the Sky Come out of hunched posture, depressed posture. 6m:55s On KZitem : kzitem.info/news/bejne/woarvH6kq2SddW0 Surely try this adaptation This is Elbows to the Sky with a focus on how one side is a little more tight than the other. This is one of my newer movements: *The Two Axis Rocking Chair -Focus the lesson for scoliosis and everyone* Relax the front where the stuckness is hidden. Address your asymmetrical hunch. 12m:44s This is now a cornerstone movement in my personal practice. kzitem.info/news/bejne/y6l_uJ18m5Vmpoo If it seems that the front just isn't open to opening, then try the sides first, A good experiment is to relax one side then try Elbows to the Sky. Is that side more open to change? Basic movement for the sides: *The Side Bend Upper half of the Side Bend: DETAIL for YOUR RIGHT Side RIBS, Part 1* This one has a very good breathing assessment. 7m:44s kzitem.info/news/bejne/2Kqvm4aVpYJolqw *DETAIL for YOUR LEFT Side RIBS, Part 2* 8m:51s kzitem.info/news/bejne/uXlutq2JiH51hmU *Lower half of the Side Bend: DETAIL Part 1 for YOUR RIGHT* Side Waist kzitem.info/news/bejne/yG-dyYuvk2RzeHY *DETAIL Part 2 for YOUR LEFT Side Waist* , Lower Half of Side Bend kzitem.info/news/bejne/rWqPwGWQh6qdlYI *Side Bend practice | What if your sides were relaxed?* | Basics course sequence excerpt from 2022 6m:59s On KZitem: kzitem.info/news/bejne/yZ-X0Gmjk3-IoIo

@@ericcoopersomatics Thank you very much ! I have tried different exercises & I experienced a lot of resistance and anger. How would you recommend dealing with this ? I have tried staying present and breathing through the emotion. But I had an urge to get up and stop the exercise. Thank you again.

@firekitten5161 That's great question. Stress tensions are generally front and back. They are often very escalated in their opposition. As you do these movements for the front, the diminishment of the opposition will highlight the remaining tension in the back. In my personal exploration, and in what I have seen in clients, is that the back is where we often hold the high idle that boils over as anger. It's important to turn down both sides. I have lots of movements for the back. At first, I encourage you to try these to help you clarify the relationship between the tension and the emotion. Here are a few to try: Maybe start with this one: *The Horseshoe Pandiculation, Pandiculate away your ANGER and IMPATIENCE* | Turbulence to Tranquility 5m:54s, Costa Rica 2023 kzitem.info/news/bejne/oqqF3HuIfHSWpKg This is also very good: *Standing Relax for your Arching Back & Back Ribs | Emotion and the Tension of your back.* Multiple vectors, 2023, 7m27s kzitem.info/news/bejne/q2yem6aofGiqm2U *Don't Be Annoyed,* A movement that turns off being annoyed Please like, comment and subscribe on youtube: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pKOVsmuEiZieiIY *Relax the Place Where Your Anger Simmers* , Somatics to free yourself from its grip 11m:22s kzitem.info/news/bejne/yqWj4Hipp3eVim0 You can do it. You can change your relationship to anger so it not so close to the boiling over. Practice often. You can do it. Please let me know how it goes. I like hearing about progress and breakthroughs

I like this flower. I could not do the normal flower because of bad mobility in chest and arms.This flower definitely had me breathing better after and during a scan after i felt my shoulders felt closer to the ground and experienced them to be way more open . Would this be just as important as elbows to the sky?

I'm glad you found it valuable. I made this one for you because it can take this type of amplification to get the message to the brain, that these places can relax. This one gives some clarity by making the movement much more torso focused than the traditional flower. Perhaps you can revisit that version now and see it anew. This is my video on the flower: *The Flower Practice Sequence 2022* Go right through every vector, Red pattern 11m53s kzitem.info/news/bejne/mWej3YKinXeZi6w That's a good question about the importance of this video compared to Elbows to the Sky. I think of this as a detail movement. Yes, it this simplified flower relates to posture, but these tensions, on this scale are not the big picture pattern of "Red Light" (hunching , depressed chest) posture. I encourage you to try Elbows to the Sky (ETTS) and bring the Flower understanding to it. Can the shoulder pull together to overlay these lines into the potential of ETTS to change the tensions of posture. Likewise, the X of the Front movements use this 'Simplified Flower' fan of muscles as part of the bigger picture movement. You can find all the lines in these more powerful movements: *Sunrise, Sunset + The X of the Front | OPEN your torso, AWAKEN your Twist, FREE your breathing* 12m:04s kzitem.info/news/bejne/0XmXmKOGkaKFZHY *The X of the Front* , one of my early videos on the Front Diagonals 16m:00s kzitem.info/news/bejne/y5ekx5Okaqx3iI4 The Teacup variations: *The Diagonal Lay Over | Relaxed Open Front | Twisting Side Bend Variation* 10m:24s kzitem.infowdwvFx-2N6Q The No Frills Side Bend and *Teacup Practice Detail/Sequence* Covers both sides 9m:02s kzitem.info/news/bejne/qYiN1mSGn5N8fqg In a way, this movement is like the flower and ETTS combinded: *The Bow,* Teach your brain to let you out of hunched posture 7m:55s On KZitem : kzitem.info/news/bejne/t6Ojz3ucnKRhem0 Develop you ability to see the details within the larger movements. Use gravity as the amplification. Look for the small place, along the long line, that doesn't know how to open. It may open a the very end, when it has to. Can everything open all at once?

Hi Eric, why do you place the hand under the pelvis for this movement?
@ericcoopersomatics
2 ай бұрын
Good question. The tensions that take of over the upper front can be very determined, powerful, and hard to sense. In this version, I decided to put the hand behind the pelvis to de-emphasise the arm involvement, to bring the focus to the deeper layers of the front. It is just an experiment. I do have a very good version of The Flower, that I teach in my style, that has more traditional positions of the arm. *The Flower Practice Sequence 2022* Go right through every vector, Red pattern 11m53s kzitem.info/news/bejne/mWej3YKinXeZi6w I encourage you to look at these normalized tension patterns as breathing space distortions. Where is the breathing space constricted. This type of constriction most accurately points you toward root holidngs. Teach those places. Re-connect and restore control to those places.

Additionally, I encourage you to revisit this video. The aspects that are difficult become more easy with practice. The difficulty , the complicated aspect that you perceive about this movement, is related to the disconnection. Practicing this one again can lead to improvement in your situation.
